Damn Collin County is on fire. I am never moving from here.:D  So much to do here:  Great facilities, awesome homes, great Restaurants and now the Opening is moving here.  The Ford Center is an awesome venue.  Looking forward to rolling over there on the bike and checking out the talent.   Home of the Cowboys, TX HS playoffs, Eagle Stadium and McKinney Stadium, MIchael Johnson Performance Center, FC Dallas, FCS Championships all within 20 miles from me.  And Craig Ranch Sports Complex to top it off.

The Opening Finals — considered the nation's biggest and most impressive showcase of high school football talent — is moving to one of the country's most glamorous venues.
After eight summers at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., it was announced Wednesday that The Opening Finals will take place at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas, the athletic facility of the Dallas Cowboys.
The glitzy, 510,000-square-foot facility features a 12,000-seat indoor stadium which hosts Major League Lacrosse and weekly high school football games from the Frisco Independent School District. The indoor stadium is part of a $1 billion development that includes office space, fitness club, two outdoor practice fields for the Cowboys, shopping, a sports medical center and a hotel.

These 3 dudes trained at Michael Johnson Performance Center here in McKinney prior to the NFL Combine.

Another HUGE congratulations to Donte Jackson, DJ Chark and Shaquem Griffin on their top 40-yard dash times! MJP knows speed, with three of the top 10 times at #NFLCombine 2018 training at Michael Johnson Performance!

The city has moved to Collin County. From cow pastures, horse paddocks to brick and mortar.... all this since ‘93. 😎

It's crazy.  Prosper is now 6A and Princeton is 5A.  You would not even know Princeton or Prosper if you drive thru them now. In the next year you can get off the 75 take 380W and drive to Little Elm and never know you left McKinney if you are not a local.

Breaking down MVPs and who Got Open at SoCal Nike Regional

Here's our breakdown of the position MVP's and who 'Got Open' following today's SoCal Opening Regional Camp.

So-Cal is sending 🔟 to #TheOpening Finals.

The West Coast is makin’ its case as the Best Coast. 👀

The SoCal Opening Regional Camp was loaded at several positions and 10 players landed invites to The Opening Finals following the camp.

It's important to understand players aren't picked for The Opening Finals based solely on their camp performance but a combination of game film, camp and upside. Here's a look at the 10 players who landed invites as picked by the Student Sports and Nike Staff.

Sean Dollars, RB, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei

Dollars was the quickest back in the camp and was unstoppable in the cat and mouse-make you miss drills. He has a ton of wiggle and quickness and can embarrass a linebacker in the open field. Dollars plays a lot of 7v7 and it was evident as he was very good in the one on one receiver drills as well. He's a natural pass catcher, an advanced route runner and can make plays down the field and is an extremely tough cover.

Kyle Ford, WR, Orange Lutheran (Calif.)

Ford has been playing baseball all spring and said he hasn’t been doing a ton of football work but he still had a solid day. He’s a big, physical receiver with strong hands and made several plays down the field. He runs well, does a nice job using his size to create separation and is very good in jump ball situations.

Colby Bowman, WR, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Bowman had a good day, testing well and making the fastest man competition. He then looked good in the position and one on one drills and looks poised for a big senior year. He has gotten bigger and more explosive as an athlete in the last year and is among the fastest receivers in the state. Bowman has a big frame, is a polished route runner and has the ability to project as both a solid possession receiver and a deep threat.

Bru McCoy, WR/ATH, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei

McCoy had the top Rating of the day with a 125.43 score and showed why he's such a high level prospect. At 6-3, 205 pounds, he ran a 4.62-40, 4.22 shuttle, jumped 38" in the vertical and threw the power ball 45'. He worked out exclusively with the receivers and has a great combination of size, strength and athleticism. We would love to see him at linebacker at one of these events and see what he can do on the defensive side of the ball but he's an elite prospect no matter where he lines up.

Jonah Tauanu'u, OL, Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne

Tauanu'u had a good day at left tackle and had some fun head to head battles with DE Kayvon Thibodeaux. We like Tauanu'u a lot and feel he has a nice upside as a tackle or even a guard depending on where his body goes. He has tackle mobility and good feet and will only get better as he continues to refine his technique. He has a very strong lower body and is a powerful kid, which is why we think he could easily slide inside and play guard if needed.

Kayvon Thibodeaux, DL, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian

All eyes were on Thibodeaux, a national top five prospect and he definitely showed why he's such a coveted prospect. He didn't win every rep but we like how hard he competed all day, from the position drills to the end of the camp. He has a very good frame, is a natural athlete and highly competitive. He's a strong kid with all the physical tools you're looking for and a great work ethic off the field as well.

De'Gabriel Floyd, LB, Westlake Village (Calif.) Westlake

Floyd earned LB MVP honors at last year's NorCal Opening Camp so it was a good bet coming in he would be getting an invite with a comparable performance. He was very good once again and is one of those linebackers who does everything well. He has a prototype linebacker frame, is a high level athlete with good short area quickness and has the ability cover, play in space and rush the passer.

Mase Funa, LB, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei

We said it after the Under Armour Camp a few weeks back but it's always amazing how well Funa does in a shirt/shorts type setting when his body and style of play are built for pads. He had multiple interceptions during the half skelly period and is one of the most instinctive players out West. He was very good in the pass rush drills as well and is just a tremendous all around football player.

Chris Steele, DB, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Steele had a great camp and was among the top 2-3 overall performers of the day in our eyes. He can be physical when he needs to and is arguably the strongest corner in this year's class. What we liked was his ability to cover down the field, his improved quickness out of his breaks and his improved fluidity in his movement. He has good speed and was able to turn and run with every receiver in the camp and he always competes at a high level.

Max Williams, DB, Gardena (Calif.) Serra

Williams ended the day with his best reps, showing the instincts that have made him such a desirable corner the past few years. He reads and reacts to passes so flawlessly, jumps routes routinely and despite giving size to most of the receivers he goes up against, frustrates them by getting into their pocket the whole route then quickly getting his head around to make a play on the ball. He projects as an ideal nickel or slot corner at the next level and will get his hands on a ton of footballs over the course of his college career.

Who could be next?

There are still several more invites set to go out over the coming months and we could see a number of players from this camp invited down the road. Here's a look at a few players we could see earning an invite to the Opening Finals later this spring.

*If there was one player we thought deserved an invite today but didn't get one, it was Corona (Calif.) Centennial defensive end Drake Jackson. Jackson would have been our choice for DL MVP and was dominant in every one on one rep he took. He has grown physically and is now a solid 6-4, 260 pounds and is one of the more natural pass rushers we have seen this year.

*Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco running back George Holani is another player we thought was deserving and had a very good day. He was solid in the cat and mouse drill, dominant in the pass rushing drills and looked good in the one on one receiver drills as well. He's even better with pads on and is among the top backs in the region and among the most under-recruited for his talent level as well.

*Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive back Jeremiah Criddell is someone we could see joining his Monarch teammates in Texas down the road. He's a physical player with a corner skill set and a safety frame and is among the most instinctive and aggressive corners you'll see.

*A pair of underclassmen we think are very deserving of an invite are Upland (Calif.) '20 linebacker Justin Flowe and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei '20 offensive lineman Myles Murao. Murao was our top overall player in the camp today and not only won every rep in the one on ones but did so in dominating fashion.

He started out at left tackle cleanly won the first two reps of the day against Kayvon Thibodeaux. He then moved over to right guard during the final five 'best on best' portion of the camp and barely allowed his man past the line of scrimmage. At 6-3, he has a guard body but some of the most athletic feet we have seen in a while, plays with advanced technique, is very strong and highly competitive.

Flowe was arguably one of the top five overall performers we saw today as well. He plays with a serious edge to his game and his motor never turns off. He plays angry but under control and is the most physical 'backer in the state right now. He's quick and active, looks comfortable dropping in to coverage but really excels coming forward and projects as a heat seeking missile at inside linebacker.

We also really like Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei '20 corner Elias Ricks as a potential invite as well. Ricks is all of 6-2, has a great frame, is a high level athlete and shows both short area quickness and top end speed. When you look at his sophomore tape, along with his physical tools and upside, he's a kid that just oozes potential at the next level.

Position MVPs

QB- Ryan Hilinski, Orange (Calif.) Lutheran

Hilinski has had a big off-season, seeing his recruitment blow up and impressing at multiple 7v7 events and camps. Not only did he take home MVP honors, he earned an invite to the Elite 11 Finals, the first quarterback to do so after four stops on the tour. Hilinski throws an accurate ball, showed plenty of arm strength and has a natural feel for the position. He threw the deep outs on a rope and showed good touch on the deep balls as well. He was one of the most polished quarterbacks in the camp and his game has taken a nice jump in the last year.

RB- Sean Dollars, (see above)

WR- Jabari Kindle, Arcadia (Calif.)

Kindle, who played at L.A (Calif.) Cathedral a year ago, drew raves from the coaching staff for his route running, hands and ability to get open. He runs well, showed a nice burst getting in and out of his breaks and definitely opened a lot of eyes following his performance.

OL- Myles Murao (see above)

DL- Keyon Ware-Hudson, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei

All the way back from an injury that took his junior season away, Ware-Hudson looked as good as we had hoped he would, if not better and showed no ill effects from the injury. He worked with confidence and showed his quickness off the ball and his strength against interior offensive linemen en route to winning MVP honors. As his confidence continues to grow, his performance will improve even more, he's definitely going in the right direction.

LB- Justin Flowe (see above)

DB- Chris Steele (see above)

Maybe during the D1 title game as well? DLS should make a nice little showing this year in that game.

It should be fun to watch the JV game this year. I can't wait!

- On another note, if you wanted me to respond, you should have tagged me :)
