It's actually really simple: try and avoid contact with LEO at all costs. No contact, no risk of bad ending. Sounds about right to me.

Are you suggesting to actually follow rules and laws? Because I agree. Seems to working pretty well for me in my life. What say you? 👍

I am suggesting that you keep a low profile and try and avoid dealing with LEO altogether if you are a person of color. I am law abiding. However, that does not guarantee my safety. There used to be a time when in Orlando, not necessarily in certain other parts of the country, I was comfortable with LEO as I was always approached politely. That time has passed. I don't like the direction we are going in.

Two people you don’t want to have to count on cops and lawyers.  Best to avoid them no matter what your color.

DB. To me, you are a smart, reasonable, and logical man. I honestly will never worry about you ever being on a negative end of any LEOs “doing their job”.!

Respectdully,

Yeah, “get a white friend” is easily the best line.

This is probably Rock’s best bit ever.

Yup it’s classic.  I also like the bit he does about “you know you in the wrong part of town.....

But being a good natured white guy no guarantee of good treatment.

My lifetime record in LEO enconters

negative 4: includes 3 beatings and 1 unlawful chase

neutral 3: routine traffic stop

positive 1: right cop, right place, right time

Thus for me it’s a 50:50 proposition

This is disturbing and I am Pro-Cop. Clearly they tried to hide this from the Chief.   This is the same department that shot that White dude from here with an AR15. This is B.S.  plain and simple.  This is about basic Human Rights and if you don't have a problem with this you need to check yourself. Clearly this department has problems.

it was his best friend a white guy who tried to break into his Girlfriend's place.  He is detained on the floor then they turn their attention toward him and lied about the situation.  But the guy who broke no laws was pummeled and I understand they were called out for a domestic situation.  Terrible.

Ouch!  That’s pretty bad behavior.  How they gonna explain this one.

And in the rest of America today, millions and millions and millions of non white people had positive encounters with Police officers....

That's great and I hope a million others do as well.  Clearly the one on the ground in the video had a better encounter and he was the perp but in this case the POC  didn't.  Remember you said each situation is different.  This was abuse of Basic Human Rights. .  If a million teenagers went out on a date and acted well but the one who took your daughter out Raped her would you have the same dismissive nature of the circumstance?

I am a Member of several Military Police Organizations and am Pro Cop but I am not Pro Abuse of Power.

Yes this Department has some issues.  It's not about Race this is about Human Rights.  If that was a Son. I bet people wouldn't be so dismissive.  I am law abiding and I live in a nice Neighborhood.  But I damn sure would have some apprehension if a Cop Stops me at Night and there is a reason that many like me have those feelings.  Officer Friendly isn't always what many perceive.  I know many and have friends in many States.  I also know that Profession is high in Divorce, Alcohol usage and some serious Suicide Problems (look it up).  They are not always choir boys I will assure you of that.  Many suffer PTSD and Depression and many are Former Military (Combat types).

More cops die of suicide than die of
shootings and traffic accidents combined.

If cops are in wrong, prosecute them. No issue with that.

Im willing to bet that whatever caused the officers to react the way they did, the white perp didn’t do... Just a guess.

Did the black cop who put the beat down on guy do it because he’s black? He landed a mean elbow at the end.

Did dude spit on cops? Looks like they put a mask on him? If he spit on cops, he deserved what he got imo...

If a teenager raped my daughter, he would get tortured, buried, never to be found again.

I usually don't worry too much either. However, over the course of my life I have had two very scary episodes. One was in Jamaica and it was with the military, who was assisting the police during the 1980 election which had plunged the island into violence. The other was in New Jersey in 1989. In both cases, I could have easily lost my life. In the Jamaica incident the soldiers escorted me from the bus stop to my home about 500 meters away with automatic weapons pointed at my back. It was probably the longest 12 minutes of my life. In the New Jersey instance, I kept my cool as I had a toddler and a baby dependent on me, as well as a wife who had not yet established a career for herself. I kept reminding myself as the situation unfolded that $150,000 of life insurance did not go very far ...

Unless you are a violent offender, all encounters with LEO should be positive. The purpose of a good police force is to see the law is upheld. It is not to strike terror into the hearts of non violent citizens.

I have ZERO fear of police ... As long as I’m not doing anything illegal I will have no problems .

I have had negative encounters. Last one was when I got a ticket for loud noise at 8 pm for having a mariachi band. Bitch was a rookie cop and being rude so I told her so, took the ticket and kept on partying. Had 2 officers partying in my home when I got the ticket.

And it seems like you havnt had bad encounter since 1989 I believe you said... That’s almost 30 years , maybe you shouldn’t worry so much about them either.
