FootballGuy
Looks like there may have been a misapplication of the rules in 2OT after Warner Robins declined the personal foul on the field goal. Since it's a football game, do y'all really think GHSA is gonna allow for the game to be replayed like how they did with the baseball game a few years ago? HawgGoneIt
No, probably not. The GHSA is gonna lie or whatever they have to do. They're already calling your coach a liar basically.
Nolebull813
That was your coaches fault for declining it. There is nothing you can do. Bainbridge is your class State Champion. They will raise the banner and wear the rings. They will tell their grandchildren that they drove to Atlanta and took what was theirs!!!! Warner Robins fans and players will be left empty handed and nothing to tell their descendents except how they were outearned. They will wear costume jewelry and will never experience what a State Championship ring feels like unless they ask a member of the 2018 Class 5A State Championship football team the Bainbridge fighting' Bearkats!!!!!!

The thing is, the coach is claiming the official gave him an incorrect explanation of what would happen if he accepted the penalty. I read an article yesterday where the GHSA basically says that they did explain it correctly. More or less saying he's lying. He probably should have known what the yardage and down would be on his own and tried to argue it right then and there on the field before accepting or declining. That's the only way to keep the GHSA from cheating you or throwing you under the bus as a liar after the fact. They're pretty much a clown show these days. Ask for an explanation. If it doesn't concur with what you think is the correct situation, play under duress the remainder of the game. Make sure it's documented too. ATLien12x
Unbelievable that two years in a row the GHSA has failed two championship games (3A in 17, 5A in 18)

The GHSA is a shady bunch... They aren't even supposed to be here right now... But they saved their own ass by getting rid of the chief and getting somebody new... But it's a South/Middle GA issue so we know nothing's gonna be done about it anyway...
HawgGoneIt
It's a damned shame that the coaches and/or officials probably need to start wearing body cams or go pros on their hats so that they have proof of who is being honest or whatever in a situation! TheMaximumHornetSting
Only when All schools go against the grain will the GHSA actually listen or do anything... Like last year when Calhoun and Cartersville practically called for their head...

According to someone on the sideline (who was near the ref and Chastain), the ref said that the personal foul wouldn't have been an automatic first down.....it still woulda been 4th and goal but closer. I and thousands of other people was under the impression that a personal foul (roughing the kicker) woulda been an automatic first and goal at the 2. Apparently, the ref never gave him that option. If that's the case, that's a misapplication of the rules and the game should be replayed at that particular point, correct?
HawgGoneIt
It boils down to the officials were ready to go. The GHSA had another game yet to play and this one was running VERY long. The facility still needed to be cleaned for the next day etc. If you've ever been a part of the last game there you would understand how they rush you out of the stadium so they have time to clean it etc. I hate the venue because of stuff just like this. I would think so, but, they didn't replay the game last year with an obvious bad call. Hines has done an investigation and listened to the refs communications and that's end of story. (Pretty sure the communication between ref and coach isn't a part of that) Everyone else is under the bus as a liar.

Fuck that! Who cares if the game was running long? It was an exciting game! What about integrity? Call an honest game over being "ready to go." Shit is ridiculous. AztecPadre
In order for any chance of the game being replayed, the refs would have to agree they were wrong and from reading the article it does not look like they sided with the coach. Sucks for the kids.

I hate when kids are the victims of adults stupidity or pride. At the same time, why would the coach not know that a personal foul like roughing the passer and roughing the kicker, is an automatic first down? Did the white hat call running into the kicker when he announced the penalty?

What? A Line Judge allegedly gave the wrong option to the coach because there was another game to be played? You think the Line Judge made that decision? Not likely at all.
