Haha - they will need it.  They are TERRIBLE this year.  I remember Keydren Clark from St Peters putting on scoring displays against Manhattan around 03/04.  I graduated in 04.

They are a young team with a new coach. Their OOC schedule included NC State, Clemson and Auburn. Expected to lose those. Didn’t expect to lose to the NEC teams though. Those were terrible.

Keydren Clark was a legend at SPU. I graduated a few years before him but have been going to games for many years. Loved to watch him play. Too bad we couldn’t get him much help around him. Games against Manhattan and Luis Flores were good games.

Manhattan has lost to pretty much everyone so far this year.  I think they are 2-9. Not sure I’ve ever seen them this bad.

Silsbee won Texas 4A last year beating  Dallas Carter 104-101.....bet that was a game.

Lakwwood Ranch is a 8A school in Florida, Solid last year at 24-5.......currently 7-2

Silsbee is only 11-6 this year and got beat by the Florida school already.  Prior to that they have played bigger schools this year in Texas and have struggled

Sort of on topic, I believe South Shore HS, NY out of Brooklyn won the King of the Bluegrass tournament in Kentucky recently.

New York has some good basketball.....

.....should be some good games today at the Sugar Bowl event.

Bishop Loughlin, NY up 40-37 over Madison Prep (Baton Rouge) headed to the 4th.

According to Maxpreps:

Bishop Loughlin is #1 in NY and #68 nationally.

Madison Prep is #6 in Louisiana and #91 nationally.

Winner goes to the Champ game tomorrow....

Bishop Loughlin is headed to the Sugar Bowl Prep Basketball Classic Final. .....best Madison Prep 54-47.

Bishop Loughlin will probably face Sophie B. Wright (NOLA)...if they can handle Dunham (Baton Rouge) who is highly regarded.

Maxpreps has Sophie #4 in Louisiana and #64 nationally...

Dunham is #3 in Louisiana and #60 nationally...

I don’t think Bishop Loughlin is going to be #1 in NY once they get into their league play, but it seems like they are playing pretty good ball for now.

Looks like Dunham is up 3 after 1 quarter.

It's really hard to keep up with all these teams truthfully. Dunham won a big tourney in Tennessee last week and is clearly better than I thought they were.....up 4 at halftime.

Yea - a lot of these top teams play all over the country around the holidys trying to f8nd their footing against solid competition.  It usually serves them well come playoff time in their respective states:

“Thomas Jefferson (Brooklyn, NY) - Going to Arizona over the holiday break to play in the VisitMesa.com Basketball Challenge, the Orange Wave would go 4-0 in the desert as they brought back victories over four of Arizona's best in Chaparral, Deer Valley, Perry, and Millennium.”

Dunham, La went to Nashville, TN and won the Next Level Hoop Fest beating Whitehaven (Memphis) in the Champ game........Whitehaven is considered one of the best in Memphis/Tennessee.........Memphis is known for their hoops.

Dunham is a 2A school here......home of the #1 football player in the country per Rivals....and evidently some decent basketball.

Whitehaven is always a powerhouse.  No question.  Louisiana has a lot of talent across the board in football, basketball, and baseball.  Big HS sports state for sure.

Memphis has been a hoops hotbed for a long time, no doubt.

The CHSAA (The NYC Catholic League) still has plenty of good teams and talent but it's nothing like its heyday. It was considered the best league in America for many decades. Now with the HS sports landscape having changed and kids leaving NYC for prep schools and better opportunities, those days are long gone.

Tons of kids leave NY every year to play at those prep schools and / or re-class.  It’s the new normal.
