Even if he doesn’t pan out, he had a remarkable and noteworthy run. His potential now or back in HS has no bearing on what team was better in 2013. Whats next? Tom Brady was the best HS QB of all time and his alma mater was better than all comers during his time there based upon his subsequent NFL accomplishments? You guys are losing your grip on reality. Shake yourself.

Shake yourself. He was a national POY and all American in HS. That speaks to his abilities. all of this was given in context too as he wasn’t a late bloomer like Brady. He was always heralded as a top player. All 3 of the Allen players drafted this year were regarded in HS as having potential that would project them into the NFL if they continued to develop. So was he a late college bloomer because he was originally at Texas Tech?

People forget that he eventually won the starting job at A&M his freshman year and had an exceptional debut. “After the team lost two straight games in October, the competition was opened again prior to the South Carolina game, and Murray won the starting quarterback position.[18] In his first start, Murray threw for 223 yards and rushed for 156 yards with a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown, making him and Cam Newton the only Southeastern Conferencequarterbacks in the past 20 years to gain over 100 yards passing and rushing, including a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in their first career start.”

Now that Kyler Murray was selected #1 in the draft, and Rosen was traded to some other team, mayb'e Allen would have won vs. SJB that year. I certainly gave DJ alot of sh*t about his support for Allen. Mayb'e I was wrooo.......wrooon...........wro......Mayb'e there was more to the debate than we thought. Best Texas team ever, at least arguably

It's totally impossible to remove it from the polls or any equations. Some guys are more biased to talent than team. Some are more biased toward a team that has been together over a longer period as starters. Some are biased to a particular style of offense or defense. A particular type of scheduling practice. A certain coach or style of coaching. Now we are seeing "after the fact" talent bias showing up. A total new one on me, but, hey, whatever. Bias is bias. We all are. I have heard some guys express a bias against Colquitt's OOS scheduling practices.

However, he being the number 1 draftee in 2019 and Rosen being traded is not indicative that Allen was the better team in 2013. In my opinion that would have been one hell of a game. None of it’s definitive, this is guesswork and discussion and is nothing more than a data point in evaluating the talent on those teams. Especially for Murray as he was a hell of a competitor then as he is now. The thing is BTW, Allen and SJB are the same teams we were discussing then in contention for being the best. This doesn’t settle the argument, just a look back on where that talent on those teams have gone 1
