Nolebull813
I guess Mainland figured they didn't want to drive 17 hours round-trip to go play touch football in the middle of Alabama. If you seen the school you would know they are not broke. They just probably figure there is better things to do with their time and money than play tag football. Honestly no one outside of Alabama and Georgia really give a shit about this event. Maybe some random Illinois or Connecticut team so maybe you got me there. Lol

Lol The real issue here is a school keeping there word and not lying. Maybe something not in your moral make up or the staff at Mainland. But at Hoover if we tell you we are going to be there we are. If nobody gives a shit about this event except Al and Ga why does Rivals, Scout and 247 all cover it? I guess you are right if our students were making kill list like they do at Mainland and having the FBI involved. Lying about showing up at a 7 on 7 would be on the back burner. Please list all the OOS games Mainland has been too. Has Mainland ever played West of the Miss River. Hoover has sent several teams in several sports all over the country. All in keeping there word. Mainland isn't a team known for playing OOS . They played St Edward a couple seasons ago. You can't really say they didn't keep their word....unless you know all the facts of situation don't speak on it. You never know something actually could have came up. For some reason they walk through their reg season schedule, then fold up and get crushed.. It was a last minute bus ride for them. They didn't walk through all of the team's in regular season. They actually play some solid teams
954gator
If they made the tournament more organized and more difficult to make the finals I feel like more teams would make the effort. I mean you win the Regional and you get a discounted ticket, but other teams can just pay to play in the big tournament right off the bat, and it ends up basically being another regional tournament (albeit a pretty big one). dan in daytona
Mainland is 1-1 in out of state games over the last 25yrs. Beat Gwinnett Central, Ga. there around 2010(?). Lost at St Ed's in 2015 after a last minute "bus ride to Cleveland" was arranged when the promoter swindled airline/accommodation money in excess of $10,000. A Mainland "Homer" recap ( if interested ) of St Ed's game: Mainland recovers opening on side kickoff. Ref blows quick whistle. Goes to a downed St Ed's player to mark ball. Problem is BALL isn't there. Mainland player on ball 5yds closer to Ed's goalline. Ed's TD,TD, Mainland TD. 14-7 end of 1st. Mainland recovers another kickoff. Mainland TD (14-14). Ed's TD(21-14)Mainland TD(21-21). Mainland kicks off, "Gunner" on outside hits deep Ed's return man and he fumbles. Mainland recovers ball inside 5yd line. Ref's huddle. Rule Mainland Gunner ran out of bounds and came back in to make tackle. Mainland players and staff are livid. Film confirmed player was Blocked out of bounds and legally returned to the field.Eds TD(28-21),Ed's TD(35-21) end of half. Mainland TD (35-28) end of 3rd. StEds FG, Safety, TD, 47-28 Final Mainland was never able to stop StEd's super running back. He had over 200yds. Mainland also was never going to get any calls when game was still in doubt. Mainland had 15 penalties for 155yds. Hard to keep drives going with all those flags flying. I still believe St Ed's would've pulled the game out, but not by 19. * Maxpreps had video of all three Mainland kickoff recoveries until end of season.

But, ok I won't stay after Mainland as they are broke and can't go OOS with any success... Ok.. You act like they play a shitty schedule. It's exaggerated. Sure they have a tough time with the top Miami teams. Has nothing to do with why the team didn't travel to Hoover for a 7v7. I highly doubt they were scared lol.

Mainland should of said hell no to going to Ohio after what the refs did to Dwyer up there. The terrible calls in this game confirmed it.

Haha Hawg, your broke ass comment is not very far from the truth. Mainland is the inner city school, in a county that doesn't believe in spending money on athletic amenities. University High of Orange City still has no home field or city facility to play football games. All are on the road. Daytona Mainland and Seabreeze play at a city municipal stadium with high rental fees (2K+/game). All game concessions (food and drink) go to the city. Daytona Beach has a deal with Pepsi on city property and the county school board has an exclusive deal with Coca Cola. City employees man the concessions, no gray area, no sharing. Concessions are manned by city employees. After game fees (rental, police, ambulance, and security) are taken, ticket receipts and parking go to the schools. No Volusia County school has a decent campus football stadium. With a tourist based economy, poor paying service industry jobs are the norm. Economically the area mirrors favorably to that of the "Redneck Riviera" in the Florida Panhandle area. We're not to be confused with Palm Beach and wealthy destinations to the south.

It costs us WAY too much to trek outside Moultrie. Now that being said...we usually travel OOC (out of country...and yes, pun intended) at least once a year. We play in the Corky Kell in Atlanta. And the rooms at the Ritz-Carlton ain't cheap. But we get by...somehow. Perhaps on thee kindness of others..... Rufus>>
