Catholic-BR Bears: MaxPreps Preseason #1 and The Johnson Twins

Louisiana — Catholic (Baton Rouge)

The LHSAA recently revoked the Bears two state titles from 2017 and 2020 but announced they will not face any sanctions or postseason ban heading into this season. Dave Simoneaux begins his first year as head coach with plenty of talent, including five-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr., four-star offensive lineman Emery Jones, senior wide receiver Tre' Benson and sophomore quarterback Daniel Beale.

Anyways, Catholic has some twins at DT. Jacob and Joshua Johnson-both about 6-2 300 lbs. That's some big twins. They are only 16 years old and could develop into some monsters.

Will be interesting to see how Catholic puts it all together this year. New HC and new OC, and all the other stuff going on, but win or lose Catholic is not taking a chump team to Maryland to battle a "National" Our Lady Of Good Counsel squad.

I Imagine Catholic will look very similar to every other team Good Counsel plays this year.

Which Louisiana RB?

Last I heard was the Ponchy (Ponchatoula WR) committing to ND.

Is there a RB that committed there I wasn't aware of?

This guy is all over the map with his dumbness.........Rummel sent a RB to Notre Dame last year and I guess sjr, nj did too. So this is what you get in a Catholic-BR thread from this guy.

I really don't know much about this NexGen All America Camp, but it was held at IMG Academy in Florida......just another recruiting tool for IMG Academy.

The Johnson Twins may be playing at IMG Academy next year, who knows?

It's all about the "sale".

If Catholic can get W's in their first 5 games I can see them very close to that 10-15 range nationally headed into the 2nd half of the season.

It's NOT going to be easy! That's probably a better first 5 than IMG's first 5.

Sept. 3     at Our Lady of Good Counsel
Sept. 10   ACADIANA
Sept. 17    at West Monroe
Sept. 24   WARREN EASTON (NOLA)
Oct. 1       at Lafayette Christian Academy (the real  LCA)

They lose 1st 2.  Win next 3.

Wonder whatever became of Gilman....they had a couple hyped-up teams.

Biff Poggi used to run that show.
