Is this the same group of players who got destroyed by a boys high school team?

That was 2017 but, yeah, basically.

What's funny is how the writer here tried to downplay it as "no big deal" and that the women didn't go "all out" in the game.

As if that would've mattered.

FC Dallas under-15 boys squad beat the U.S. Women's National Team in a scrimmage

Of course, this match against the academy team was very informal and should not be a major cause for alarm. The U.S. surely wasn’t going all out, with the main goal being to get some minutes on the pitch, build chemistry when it comes to moving the ball around, improve defensive shape and get ready for Russia.

Yeah like they wanted to be embarrassed by a high school team on purpose.

people that say they should be paid equal to men have no clue what they are talking about.

The truth is that they get destroyed every time they play against the boys academy teams.

FC Dallas has the best academy in MLS. One of the players on that team was Tanner Tessman who just got transferred to a Serie A club for millions of dollars.

But they were still U-15.

Those are JV-aged high school kids.

The STA varsity boys team would drill the USWNT on the regular.

Got two more excuses.  First, I heard a commentator say that the average age of the players is 31.  That's ancient for a country who supposedly have the resources and talent pool that the US has.  Time to give Lloyd, Rapinoe, and maybe some other players their gold watch and bring in some new blood with fresher legs and more pace to their game.

The other thing is that they're starting to really catch up in Europe.  Now some of the biggest men club teams (Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus) now have women teams.  Plus their soccer federations are putting more money into talent development.  The financial backing is going to be as good or probably better than the NWSL teams will get.  If they're not careful, championships, which used to be the norm, is going to become more scarce.

The were really bad the entire tournament and didn't deserve anything better than what they got: a shot at a bronze medal.

And they cost me money in the process.  If they would have lost to the Netherlands like they should have, I would have won over $3,000.  There wasn't no way Canada would hold the Netherlands scoreless.
