But until they closed off the arches 2 years ago it played so much longer with the wind off the cove. https://sports.yahoo.com/giants-keep-oracle-park-archways-170437799.html

He got caught and admitted it full well knowing the end affect would be no HOF. Now people want to ignore that. Doesn't work that way.

If nothing else he was flat out stupid. After the Black Sox scandal and all the fall out from that, you would have to be just plain stupid to be betting on your sport much less at the level he was. This is a common opinion about Rose’s gambling habits. But what does it indicate when he didn’t bet on his team in a given game? At the very least, we can assume he didn’t think the Reds were going to win that particular night. Did Rose manage or play differently on the nights that he didn’t place a bet? Did he save the bullpen for the following night as opposed to trying to win a close game? There is strong evidence he did just that. Also, the betting lines went against the Reds when Rose didn’t place a bet, because bookies knew Rose didn’t think they would win. By not placing bets to win, Rose was essentially placing a bet they would lose.

Elect him in hof as a player, not as a manager.

Rose definitely bet on baseball while still a player. A 1989 raid on the home of one of Rose’s bookies had a bunch of records of Rose’s bets in 1986 when he was still playing.

One of the Rules posted on the wall of every club house is “No Betting on Baseball”,…. Rose Blatently and knowingly Broke that rule…. Steroids is a different issue…. There were No Rules n Baseball Dis Allowing Steroids and The Commissioner and owners knew this was going on and enabled it all…. If you don’t have rules against something and Millions of Dollars are on the line, people will do what we they can to Get that money as long as they are not breaking any rules…. No players using steroids broke any rules, because there were no rules against them….. The Olympics and NFL learned this and made rules against it…. Baseball didn’t care because they were making $$$ so they let it go until the government intervened…..
