I'll refrain from voting until we can clarify the criteria. I have no interest in trying to persuade anyone on this.

Just going by sheer number of titles can't automatically be the criteria by itself. Programs like UCLA basketball and Miami football racked up a very large number of titles in a relatively short period of time. Neither is, or should be, widely considered the best program ever in their sports. And, I don't think the success the graduates have or don't have at the higher levels should count for a ton. There are far too many variables in play that can lead to a player's success or lack thereof after the player has left the program. Of course, both of these things DO count somewhat.

I will acknowledge that STA is very tough to beat. I am not able to vote against them.

Lakeland probably wins in the area of longevity. Their first playoff-era impact team was 1979, making it to the state semis with a QB who would go on to hold an NCAA passing record for a time and be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Then they won state titles in each of the last five decades. The stretch in the late 80s/early 90s without playoff wins was in a time when only the district champ made the playoffs, and Lakeland shared a district with the best program in the state at the time, the Manatee Hurricanes. They've been good enough to command the attention of the state really every year since 1979. They've had zero losing seasons since 1976. If we evaluated programs nationwide on the basis of the last 50 years- where 1974 counts for as much as 2023- I'm not sure anyone tops Lakeland. Of course, I can't really make much of a case for using the last 50 years rather than the last 100 years, or the last 10 years, etc.

St Thomas has the best resume.

Observers should understand that Nolebull is a person who has alleged that, at once, two teams playing each other amount to a colossal, embarrassing mismatch WHILE both teams held leads in their game *in the second half*.  He's unable to explain how a team is embarrassingly outmatched despite holding a second half lead and scoring more points against the supposed superior, mismatched team than any of its opponents (which included IMG). He's a one-trick pony who's only here to denigrate teams that don't schedule as he, personally, sees fit.

You are putting lipstick on a pig. They lost by 3 touchdowns. They were toying with Lakeland like a dog and a chew toy. The dog knows the chew toy has no shot. He will play around with it until he gets bored and then rip it to shreds.

Bad Router heads to the casino at 9pm against his better judgment.

Around 1am he calls his wife and says “honey, I’m up big! Everyone told me I was a duck and had no business playing the casino.”

”great news honey! We all knew you could stand up to the behemoth.”

2am Bad Router walks in the door. “Who’s my handsome stud” the wife says. Router responds, “He’s on a plane back to Philadelphia. I lost everything.”

Wife shakes her head in shame. “So you lost all our money?” Router responds with a smile, yeah but it’s no big deal, I was up big at 1am” 😂😂😂

It is entertaining to note how STA's record against Lakeland-with games being played in three different decades and in six (6) different cities- makes it hard to place them ahead of Lakeland.

I didn't vote either but I find it ironic that you'd say that UCLA basketball can't be #1 because their wins were in a short period of time but then you pivot to claiming that Lakeland's wins over STA, five of which came in two back-to-back-to-back periods, are a relevant sample size.

The very reason why UCLA isn't #1 is the same reason that Lakeland's record against STA doesn't matter in this argument.

STA first played in the state semifinals in 1971.

Uh, what?

There were years just in the last decade where Lakeland was completely irrelevant.

They were terrible in 2015.

They were terrible in 2016.

They were terrible in 2020.

Bored is a good word to describe how most react to your shtick of shitting on Florida teams playing OOS. Lakeland gift-wrapped two TDs for SJP. Those two scores would be easily avoided in another game. That' not to say SJP wasn't the better team. But, the score was misleading. And I think SJP's coach would concede as much.

Has STA ever played The Bolles School?

It probably would have been a pretty good matchup back in the day.

You don't hear much about Bolles anymore though.

Lost in the great scheduling debate is how very rare it is for teams (especially in Florida) to drive four or more hours each way for a regular season game. it rarely makes sense, particularly given the likelihood of a severe weather delay or cancellation. STA has likely never traveled to Orlando*, or Polk County for a regular season game, either. The trip to Tampa for Jesuit was a rare, last-minute scheduling adjustment. It makes no sense for them, or anyone else down there, to travel unless they're hurting for money.

*Trying to recall the circumstances of the Deland game a few years back...

But, if you had said badrouter would be broke super quick and would wonder why he ever went to the casino, you'd be wrong!

Lakeland has playoff wins over STA in three separate decades, with more than twenty years between the first win and the last one.

Terrible? 2015 was 10-3, 3rd round of playoffs, with losses being to Carol City 44-34, Bartow by a point (yes, bad loss) and a road playoff loss to a team that played for the state title. 2016 was basically the same, with the playoff loss being a game at Plant they had won until an awful blocked punt in the closing seconds. Those weren't 'terrible' teams. They were not elite obviously. Then in 2017 school choice was a reality and they were able to load up like the So Fla teams had been doing for years.

2020 was the plague year. School was closed for the spring season, severely reducing both training and recruiting. To get an idea as to how weird a season that was, Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines won two (2) games that season. Lakeland won 6; STA won eight and Miami Central won eight.

Yes.

They were 9-3 in 2015 and got their as kicked by a 9-3 Carol City team and also lost to a 5-5 Bartow team.

Oh, and that playoff loss to the team that you will not name for the sake of embarrassment was 10-5 Viera.

They were 8-3 in 2016 and got annihilated by 11-3 Carol City. They also lost to a 4-5 Kathleen team. Their best win was over 7-3 Wiregrass Ranch (LOL).
