Colquitt County's Kamaar Bell to Alabama? Florida? Or Ole Miss?

Seeing the other thread where a kid was dressed up for a photo shoot at a college visit got me hunting the ones I saw a few days ago. Pretty cool tactic to dress them up as if they're already on the team and then they can post the pics on their twitter and get feedback etc. Good stuff.

I think Alabama is on his heart though. He's changed his Twitter profile image to the Alabama shoot. 247 has him 100 percent Ole Miss though. Idk.

WHY is Colquitt county an afterthought to Kirby? He ain't still pissed about his days at Bainbridge, is he? The only guy I can remember him going after was, Daijun Edwards as a FRESHMAN!

In other Colquitt offers and commitments...

Rashard Revels received an Oklahoma State Cowboys offer to go along with the rest. He's currently committed to UAB.

He joins The Commander Will Rykard- Center as an UAB commit

Marcus Anderson 5'11" 220lb  OLB commits to Georgia State

Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald with an offer from Tennessee to go along with his others that include Georgia State, Army, Air Force, and South Alabama. Quite a few other schools have expressed some interest, including Alabama, Georgia and most of the SEC East schools.

Yeah I have no idea. Not sure if he has that love/hate thing with us or not. It could be a built in bias from his old Bearcat days. xD

I would love to see Daijun Edwards and Kam Bell go there. Instead we are looking at potentially having to face Bell in a championship game at the Benz.

Kam Barnes 5'11" 290 lb. OG has a couple of offers. One from Albany State and if I'm not totally mistaken the other is from Shorter College. Really expect the interest to heat up on him this season though.

Jay Ward 6'1" 175 cover corner has committed to the University of Kentucky, but has laundry list of D1 offers.

Yeah I think as long as that offer is on the table, it'll be hard for him to go to Ole Miss. Not sure why he committed to Ole Miss to begin with though. there could be a connection somehow to family or whatever. Just the Twitter Profile image change to Alabama makes it seem like F U to Ole Miss.

Kamaar Bell has some nice offers for a 3*.

https://247sports.com/Player/Kamaar-Bell-46053821/

People like fasteddy (CA) and libdonalddumb (NJ) frown and make fun of 3* prospects.....

One thing I've noticed Is that the Southern 3* prospect is quite a bit different than the Eastern/Western 3* prospect.

Everyone in the South can't be a 4 and 5* prospect or the recruiting services would go broke and be accused of bias.

It's a big part of the reason you can't judge a team like Colquitt by the stars behind a players name also. A lot of seemingly underrated kids play on teams around here.

Ive noticed something...

A 3* in the South is more likely to pick up and offer from a major D1 school than a 3* from the West...

Not trying to start anything its just a legit observation.

For example a 3* at Valdosta had offers from

FSU

Florida

West Virginia

Georgia Tech

Tennessee

South Carolina

Georgia Southern

Georgia State

UCF

Now you could also make an argument that its because said 3* is closer to these schools.

Valdosta to Orlando is 3 hours on the dot.

Valdosta to Atlanta is 3-4 hours...

Valdosta to Tallahassee is an hour

Valdosta to Gainesville is 1h 1/2

Thats 5 major schools within less than a  5 hour drive.

i'd be shocked if Kamaar doesn't end up at Bama.  And the best thing about the kid...he still has solid potential if he can get to a school that will develop him the way he needs to be developed.  I fully expect him to explode thru his Senior season at Colquitt.  The kid is a force.  Coach Bennett has instilled the basics and given KB some leeway to work outside the box.  Somebody is going to get a KEEPER.

But for the record...he's STILLa poor, tiny, little undersized and inexperienced Hawg.

Yeah, I don't really get into the recruitment stuff other than checking number of offers.

Thanks for the info though. Filed it away for future use. xD

Packer senior football class with college offers galore

MOULTRIE – As high school football’s kickoff draws near, the preseason All-American teams are out featuring the notable Colquitt County name of kicker Ryan Fitzgerald. Also, Georgia High School Football Daily is releasing preseason All-State teams class by class.

The GHSA Class 7A team came out first with three senior members of the 2018 Packer roster, and no surprise one of them is Fitzgerald. On the offensive side, there’s running back Ty Leggett, and leading tackler from 2017, linebacker Rashad Revels, is listed defensively.

Who else from Colquitt County should be there?

A glaring omission is lineman Kamaar Bell, who is the highest rated Packer on the 247 Sports Composite rankings of Georgia prep prospects (No. 98).

The defensive team could well include cornerback Jay Ward (No. 100 in the ratings) and end Brian Merritt.

But what makes Bell’s absence more interesting is that he is by far the Packer senior with the most scholarship offers from major college programs. Looking at the whole picture, though, head coach Rush Propst certainly believes every senior will get a chance to play at the next level, be it Division I, Division II or below.

Some of the Packer seniors already made commitments. How solid those are will be seen at the first signing period that takes place right before Christmas. It was already reported in the Aug. 2 Moultrie Observer that Fitzgerald has his offers, and where others may come from later depend on the needs at schools like Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Georgia and Florida State.

The major decision still rests on Bell, who’s major numbers are that he stands 6-3 and weighs 320 pounds. The 247 Sports Composite gives him a three-star rating. Whether it be at guard or tackle, players at Bell’s position are a precious commodity in college football with depth up front being so important.

So who are the suitors for Bell? Propst went over them plus the offers/commitments involving other seniors.

“Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Ole Miss,” said Propst. “He’s whittled his list to Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri.”

Among those committed are Revels to UAB, what Propst called a “soft verbal;” center Will Rykard joined Revels as a UAB commit this past weekend, linebacker Marcus Anderson last weekend committed to Georgia State and Ward, with all of his postseason interceptions from 2017, is committed to Kentucky.

That’s four, so there are still numerous decisions left. Leggett, going into his third season as a starting running back (as is a highly sought-after junior named Daijun Edwards, and Propst calls them 1A and 1B on the Packer depth chart), has a Pittsburgh offer.

Propst said there’s a semi-commitment from lineman Kam Barnes to Shorter University in Rome.

Tight end/H-back Josh Hadley, who caught the touchdown pass that looked to give Colquitt a state title at North Gwinnett, has a couple of offers.

“Old Dominion being one of his better ones,” said Propst. “They have a chance to have a good year.”

Merritt is a curious case, for he has and will play defensive end for the Packers but can move all over the defensive front. He stands 6-feet tall and checks in at 293 pounds.

“He’s very close,” said Propst about a Merritt commitment. “He is going to take his visit to West Virginia Sept. 22, the day after the Grayson game. Right now its them and Pittsburgh, but he’s got all the Sunbelt (Conference) and Conference USA. Right now West Virginia – that’s my opinion, he may want to do something else – is probably his best offer, the best school that fits him.

“I think at West Virginia he could play nose tackle. They like that kind of nose tackle in the Big 12, one that’s fast, short and compact.”

That looks to be it as far as Power 5 or Group of 5 teams looking at Packers, but there are plenty more of them.

Propst believes safety Kam Woods is a college football player as is dog/rover linebacker Camari ‘Juicy’ Louis, and he brought up schools like Samford and Kennesaw State in connection with them. Samford, in fact, is close to getting Louis, Propst said.

He has two outside receivers, KT Wilson and Marvion McDonald, whom he said do not have “elite” track-style speed, but he feels they can play somewhere. That also includes inside receiver Tyrique Williams.

“Every senior starter will have an opportunity to play somewhere,” said Propst. “That’s eight on offense, seven (on defense), and Ryan. I’m not counting Leggett as a starter, although he is a 1A, 1B back. I don’t think with running backs you have a true starter. It’s like Georgia last year. It’s 3rd-and-6 against Alabama and they had (DeAndre) Swift in the game. It’s a specialist deal.”

What’s also interesting about the All-State list is that there are two quarterbacks, one for a pro style and one as a dual threat. That would be Marietta’s Harrison Bailey and Milton’s Jordan Yates.

There are also three members of the Grayson High Rams: linebacker Owen Pappoe and linemen Jakai Clark and Wanya Morris. Pappoe is a 5-star Auburn commit at No. 2 in the player ratings. Morris, No. 4, is the last 5-star and committed to Tennessee. Grayson has a defensive end not on preseason All-State but rated No. 8, Kevin Harris, committed to Alabama. There are many other major places Ram players want to go, but those will be saved for September.

There is one other Region 1-7A preseason All-State, but it’s not Lowndes’ running back Travis Tisdale. K.D. McDaniel of Tift County can go from linebacker to defensive end, and he’s committed to Kentucky.

Again its free college...

What he's missing out on is that they will have more offers than those.

If you read the article, Rush basically says almost all the starters will play on Saturdays somewhere. All of them.

That's pretty strong for any public school team, no matter what anyone says.

Almost as good as Buford, but I’m proud of y’all nonetheless.
