Let's see what Class 5A CovCath does in two weeks against small Class 3A Chatard .

I’m very interested in this game. I think it will be a good contest.

Btw, Cov Cath is NOT the same team they were 3-4 years ago (not, in any form, saying they are some national power now). They must’ve hired a new recruiter for the team! Lol

One of the best things about this forum is that when somebody posts a poll or ranking, guys come flying in from all corners to pimp their teams.   Everyone like to knock a poll.  LOL

Number 99999 out of 25 is pretty good right?!

I can't find a reason to knock the guy's poll at all.

All except St. X would have been boat raced by Covington Catholic last season and St. X would have lost to them.  What the hell does 3 to 4 years ago have to do with anything.  How does Louisville Trinity not being good make all of Kentucky down.  Scott County ran right over Moeller.  Does that make all of Ohio down.

That said, Covington Catholic is not a top 50 team in the country let alone top 20.

So we butt heads again over CovCath.....

Point: reference to 3-4 years ago was the last time CovCath played a GCLS team.  50-0 at half.  Past history only.

Point: reference to Lou. Trinity....they have carried the Kentucky banner (on a National perspective) for the last decade plus.  When I look at National polls, the first KY team I look for is Lou. Trinity.  For the last decade, they have been there. Sorry, but I do not see another Ky team listed in any (true) national poll.  IMO, if Trinity is having a down season, and nobody else in the state is receiving any national attention....KentuckyHS football is down (from the national eye). Don't think I am wrong there.

Let's see what CovCath does against Indy. Chatard.

So we are going to disregard Moeller losing to Scott County who is from Kentucky?  The same Moeller who just beat St. X.  This is a national board, and if you think a lot of the teams from Arkansas and Mississippi, that get ranked in peoples top 100 are better than 6 or 7 teams in Kentucky then I don't know what to tell you.  Louisville Male, Louisville St X and Bowling Green have made their appearances as well.

Don't know where Covcath fits in nationally, but OmahaVol is certainly correct that this is not the same Covcath team from 3-4 years ago.

Last year's Covcath team was very good, and this year's team may be even better. Covcath could compete in the GCL this year, and would probably win some games.

Sorry guys that I mentioned the 50-0 halftime score, 3-4 years ago.  I was not comparing that team to late year, or this years team.

I gave seen CovCath 3 times this year and they are not as good as last year.  Last years team was very good, 15-0 (but played only 1 team in the Top 1000 (calpreps).  Their schedule is average at best.  Yes, they undefeated.   But again, it is Kentucky.

Here's the problem with KY HS football.  Too many classes.  You have 216 teams is 6 classes.

1A 30 teams, 2A 34 teams, 3A 41 teams, 4A 40 teams,  5A  38 teams, and 6A 33 teams.  32 teams make the playoffs in each class.  All 30 teams in ClassA.  That is 190 teams make the playoff out of 216 teams.... 88%.  Does any other state in the country have 88% teams make the playoffs?????  Only the 3-4 district games count (for seeding) the rest of the schedule does not matter.  That is why you see teams with 0-10, 1-9, 2-8 records in the playoffs.  Only one team (Bowling Green) has any chance of beating CovCath in Ky's 5A.

I can take 2 teams out of each class and tell you right now, who will be state champion this year.

That's why I watch more Ohio games.  Competition is much better period.  Games in Ohio count.  BTW, only 26% of the teams in Ohio make the playoffs.   Stark difference I would say.  Best team CovCath will play in regular season is next week at Indy Chatard. Let's see what happens.

You play who is on your schedule.  Covington Catholic and Desales have played numerous games against each other.  Desales has won a majority of those.  The number of playoff teams in Kentucky is moot.  You play your schedule and that's all the kids can do.  Florida has too many classes as well but there isn't anything to be done about it.

TN is the same way. Too many classes and not enough teams makes for too many watered down championships. Both KY and TN should only have 3 classes, maybe 4 tops. I can’t stand that about a lot of states.

I’m pretty sure IN allows for every single team to compete in the playoffs. Too me, that renders the regular season obsolete.

I’m looking forward to the CovCath/Chatard game as well. I think Chatard plays Winton Woods this weekend in Cincinnati. That could be a trap game if they are looking ahead to CovCath.
