Date and time of Lakeland vs. STA 2019 announced

The FHSAA announced the date of the ninth playoff and sixth title game match up will be Saturday, December 14 at 7pm. Typically, 7A was held on a Friday night, while the prime time Saturday night game was for 8A. Good call by the FHSAA, as Lakeland vs. STA will surely be a better pairing then the 8A game.

Did you just assume STA was gonna make it?

Better teams don't always translate to better games. So, this may be a mistake. Also, while Lakeland will travel well, STA not so much. The 8A game may actually draw better depending on the teams.

We don’t assume ANY Fla team has the stamina to keep focus after September

We don’t have box to wire all star teams who get no real competition throughout the season.

Sorry your tiers are inaccurate. Just because you think a team should win a title doesn’t mean it’s the gospel.

By the end of the year, The crowd sourced Tiers had been massaged to perfection.  Even you had no complaints.

You do realize at the end of the year the cream rises to the top, and it doesn’t matter who post a poll the top teams have already deserved high rankings.

Is common sense at that point, pal

Exactly! The FHSAA made a bad call with this lineup. If they were smart they would have had the 6A game on either Friday or Saturday. Assuming Mainland and MC makes it, that's literally a home game for Mainland. They will pack the stadium. 10,000 EASY!!! But a 6A game on Thursday night, maybe 5,000 depending on who makes it.

If Lakeland somehow doesn't end up in Orlando, Edgewater (Orlando) may be the odds on favorite to get there instead. Armwood would be the most likely spoiler of those two. So, the odds are very good that you'll either have arguably the top rivalry in the state (certainly if you consider teams not from the same part of the state) featuring two nationally ranked teams or a team with a fairly strong fan base playing a near home game.

The Dade teams in the other classes are pretty good bets to blow out whoever they face, making for an undesirable game.

If Lakeland is as good as you say they are, only Lakeland can self destruct...If you play STA, kick their ass....Always remember that a 7-4 Bosco team beat them 20-10 while STA ran roughshod against most other teams....Also, a 9-3 Bosco team, at West Point, beat them 24-7, almost 30-7.... You can beat them with resolve and commitment...

We'll have to wait and see the team in action before making any final declarations. But, this appears to be the nastiest Lakeland team to date. Given Lakeland won by 13 last season (up 19 with 2 and change to play), I'd say things look good!

Armwood travels very poorly and have seldom brought more than a couple thousand to Orlando in recent years. Going to Daytona they will bring less.

Regarding 8A, no Dade powers play in that class anymore. Columbus is the best bet from Dade to get back to state in 8A and they have a decent fan base. If Columbus does not make it, then the likely 8A south representative will be a team from Broward (Deerfield Beach, Western Miramar), or Vero Beach or a Palm Beach team. A match up between say VB and an Orlando based team would draw very well, as would a match up between my dark horse, Spruce Creek vs the south representative.

Miramar is 7a

Thanks for the correction. Did not remember they had declined a class. Does not change my point, though. Aside from Columbus, it is not very likely Dade represents the south bracket in 8A. I guess a Palmetto or Coral Gables could make it, but neither has made a deep run in recent times.

I agree

At this point I'm leaning Columbus making a return to state

Changing your tune.

The Tiers are a crowd sourced work in progress during the year.  Only the final version is omnipotent. @Wosinc

Winners rise, losers drop. Then you put a bunch of undefeated teams at the top who won state and played a tough schedule.

Anyone can do it.

Post a preseason tier poll and then let it coast to the end and see if know what your talking about, or just talking out of your ass 😂

Ah..you've stumbled upon what makes The Tiers unique.

Only The Tiers consider SOS and margin of relevant losses and possibly weight them more heavily than undefeated records vs non relevant teams.

2019 will be the 3rd year for The Tiers.  Perhaps you should pay attention this time.
