To a degree you did. But just to a degree. Personally, if I had the option, I would go for a Southwest feel, with a cactus/rock garden out front. Less maintenance and more character, at least to my way of thinking. But I am just a Third World boy.

Plenty of people out here are going the xeriscape route, where water and maintenance become much less necessary. Being a high altitude desert, water is vital for green lawns/gardens, so the alternative is that Southwestern look you like. I grew up running around playing games in the yard, and prefer a lawn. Much better if a croquet match breaks out at our house (hasn't happened yet, but just in case).

Done with taking away from the topic of the thread.

The fact the GOP won the California special election is not surprising.  The margin is.  A district where Trump is badly underwater and Hillary won by 6 points.

Democratic Congresswoman resigned, the Democratic candidate was mediocre and Republicans ran a good candidate.

And voter turnout was incredibly low.

Republicans ran a good candidate? Sounds pretty honest. Some on here have not proven they could say the same about any Democrat (or "unethical, lying, immoral, dishonest, country-ruining, socialist, fascist, mean, ugly, poopoo, nanny-nannies" as Fox News would say).

Garcia IS a good candidate. As far as dems...I'm not sure what Fox News calls dems. But you described nicely what I call them. If the shoe fits. I guess you're okay with all of this. Not surprised. Why don't I say something nice about them? Because there are literally no good dem candidates. Show me one with have a lick of fucking sense that puts America first, and I'll be all ears. There is no dem that will break from the socialist ranks. It'd be political suicide. Tell me one candidate that has the guts even remotely suggest being moderate, and I'll be all ears.
