I generally support the demonstrations over the murder of George Floyd (I will call it what it was), but I have not demonstrated locally here in Florida both to protect myself and those I would come in contact with. For, in our larger metro areas, if only 30% of the infected relative to late March through April, need to be hospitalized, our health care system will melt down the way NYC and Italy did at the height of their bouts with Covid-19. I am at a loss to try and explain this. POTUS protects himself by having those around him tested daily. The same would apply to 1918s Spanish flu. The problem with that, though, is back then there was a lot less information out about how to avoid the ravages of pandemics, so given far less available information, who knows what I would have done? But if I had my current knowledge, and was taken back in time to 1918, I would have been holed up somewhere in the Wyoming mountains or another very thinly populated state, till it passed. As to the Woodstock reference, I am not sure how this relates to our current situation. If you took the time to read the articles you posted, you would note that: A. The Hong Kong flu took far fewer lives in the USA than Covid-19 has already taken, let alone the final numbers. B. Social distancing had not yet been established as a way to contain outbreaks. C. There was generally more resistance to it due to it being similar to a flu outbreak that occurred in the late 1950s. Today, we know better. We also have no built in immunity to Covid-19. So, this was a totally different situation. 2. You are correct, I would not have attended the parade. I would have gone to Europe to fight if drafted. 3. You live a short distance from Pennsylvania where I am sure Trump will hold at least one rally. Make the trip and stop making excuses!
