Pretty cool. My buddy I went to undergrad with has a 1st grader at Berkeley. Tom Brady’s kids just started going to school there too.

Top 20 Florida team last year.....I don't know anything about them. Lost close games to a couple good teams looks like.

20 Berkeley Prep (Tampa, FL)   team preview   trend Florida 3A Region 3 3A 7-2 2-0 (t 1st) 5-1 48.2 32.2 66-28
WINS: #675 Lakeland Christian (Lakeland, FL) (31-8), #675 Lakeland Christian (Lakeland, FL) (34-28), #820 Bishop Verot (Fort Myers, FL) (33-6), #816 Tampa Catholic (Tampa, FL) (19-14), #2418 Victory Christian Academy (Lakeland, FL) (41-35), #3056 Clearwater Central Catholic (Clearwater, FL) (41-7), #3613 Frostproof (FL) (35-6), LOSSES: #98 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, FL) (23-21), #142 Jesuit (Tampa, FL) (25-14)

Berkeley Prep is quite a bit bigger than Newman.....Newman plays in our smallest private class here (D4). That said, Newman should be one of the favorites in D4 this year with The Real LCA (Lafayette Christian).

Interesting game and match up though. Good for Newman/Berkeley Prep!

Just saw that Berkeleys TE committed to the Florida Gators. 6’7 220. Newman has a bunch of SEC guys. Game has to be on ESPN. Don’t think ESPN will miss a chance to broadcast Arch Manning.

5* Arch Manning will probably throw it 35-45 times this year. Newman has some really good WRs and TE......some tall ones. Decent OL with a little size. Offensively, Newman should be pretty good.

3* OL Bo Bordelon is committed to LSU

4* WR AJ Johnson is 6-4 and committed to LSU

(2023) WR Makai Donaldson is 6-4 (Florida St, Virginia offers)

Florida State offered New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman sophomore wide receiver Makai Donaldson on Thursday evening.

It is the second offer for the 6-foot-4, 200-pound wide receiver. The Seminoles join Virginia, who offered in November.

(2023) TE Will Randle is 6-4 (Virginia, Tulane, Oklahoma St Offers)

Newman should step up and play the top Louisiana teams before looking to Florida for a game.

Newman should play Hoover.....

That said..... Newman's offense will be better than Hoover's this year. Passing attack anyways, believe that.

Side Note: possible ESPN game, more later.

Once again, Newman could host a football game that has ESPN cameras putting a focus on quarterback Arch Manning and his teammates.

Also, the Greenies will welcome an out-of-state opponent when Tampa, Florida-based Berkeley Prep comes to Lupin Field for a Week 8 game Friday, Oct. 22.

Newman coach Nelson Stewart described his team’s schedule, released Monday, as one of the more competitive ones he has compiled in his 15 seasons in charge of the program.

“We think this is as solid and competitive of a schedule as we have had,” Stewart said.

The ESPN telecast has not been finalized, Stewart said, but the hope is that the network will return for a game at Lupin Field.

A final decision on the ESPN broadcast will be made in the coming months, Stewart said. Paragon Marketing Group is the consulting agency that collaborates with ESPN on creating a broadcast schedule for its showcase series of games.

Berkeley Prep gained national attention last year as a school where Tom Brady held one of his offseason workouts after he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Berkeley Prep posted a 7-2 record last season.

Manning will be running for his life. A five star quarterback on a shit team is not a recipe for success. Berkeley prep will stomp the Cajun out of them

Manning comes into the game as 5~star and leaves as a 4~star, lol.  BP defense knocks a star off his rating.

Maybe he can win a state or a national title something none of those Mannings did. Archie is the most overrated player in football history.  Ole Miss talk about like he never lost a game when Ole Miss never sniffed any kind of title while he was there.

Archie Manning Torched Alabama for 540 Yards in Prime Time

https://fanbuzz.com/college-football/sec/ole-miss/archie-manning-ole-miss/

Manning’s dual-threat skill set made him a menace in the Southeastern Conference. Manning racked up 5,576 total yards of offense and 56 touchdowns in his career; Those numbers would make Joe Burrow laugh, but from 1968-70, that made Manning a two-time Heisman Trophy candidate and 1969’s SEC Player of the Year.

He lost that game. It was the worst Alabama team under Bear Bryant and Ole Miss still loss. That is what makes Archie and Ole Miss look so terrible he is best know for a loss.

Only Ole Miss would think a guy whose team never finished higher than 4th in SEC was this all time great. So many qbs in that era were better than he was in the SEC.  Manning in college had 30 tds and 40 ints. Plus the SEC was at an all time low in that those years. Before Manning played Ole Miss was a 7 win team and after he left they got better in 1971 and went 10-2.

At Ole Miss just about the entire campus is named after him and even the campus speed limit is his number all for being 4th and 5th in the SEC.  QBs at Alabama win multiple national titles never even talked about much. If Mac Jones or Burrow played and won titles at Ole Miss they would give him state of Mississippi.

....may as well be Archie Manning and Ole Miss.

Anyways,

In 1969, Ole Miss finished #13 nationally and won the Sugar Bowl over #3 Arkansas (then,  Southwest Conference)

Berkeley Prep has the #3 rated APB in the nation....Xavier Townsend

Looks like Michigan is his best offer to date.....

I guess there will be plenty of players for ESPN to talk about if this game makes the cut. I'm almost certain that it will.

Growing up in Tampa, Berkeley is definitely academics first. They've been decent in football as of late, but this is a serious academic institution first and foremost. Not an athletic factory by any means.

I would rather Newman play a school like this then one of the virtual high school all-star teams.

Newman is ranked pretty highly in the Louisiana Private School rankings (#2). Tuition is $27,000 per year.

Newman is very small.
