1997 Nebraska Football Team

Anyone remember watching this team? Largely overshadowed by the hyper-dominant '95 team, '97 wasn't quite that good but they were great nonetheless.

Scott Frost, a Jr. Ahman Green, Joel Makovicka and so many others.

'96 was actually a good team too but may have been a bit hungover and or complacent after the year they had in 1995.

That is all.

They should have been champ in both polls. They would have killed Michigan.

About as bad as homers thinking Dillard would beat Acadiana....why?

Dillard is on the UP!

A team from a better state who has a better win, and won 18 of their last 19, being better than Acadiana is not unreasonable.

Seems like you're the only one who thinks it is.

Dillard has a win over a team better than Acadiana in the last 2-3 years. Acadiana doesn't have one over a team as good as Dillard in the same timeframe.

Fact.

I watched a documentary over the '97 team where they went through every game and key players gave their thoughts on it. Missouri had their number that night. I think that was the game where we saw that Nebraska had heart but certainly wasn't as good as some of previous great teams in the 90's.

That 19-0 ASU Victory over Nebraska in 1996 was awesome.

This game sucks not just because it was a shutout, but the game was played where NU beat the ever living shit out of UF for a 2nd straight title in '95. There were some guys on the '96 team who were a part of that... that would leave a gut-wrenching feeling to go lose at place where you had just had all the glory back in January the same year.
