ron169
Heard about it a couple years ago. Think NCAA made a rule making it possible

Bormio
Patriots were thinking about it at the end of the Super Bowl. From the spot of the catch - free kick. If the punt had been about 10 yards closer, BB was going to have them give it a go.

Coletrain06
I have actually seen it a Colerain game like 5ish years ago. Prior to that, never seen it before
sausmann9
That play and the fair catch on a punt to end the half or game results in one down as a field goal attempt. Two great special teams plays that many coaches don't know that.

Are you talking about a fair catch on a kickoff? Sure. I mostly have seen it on pooch kicks where a linebacker (or someone similar) catches it. I don't think you'd want someone from the DL running with the ball.

I'm familiar with teams having the opportunity to kick a field goal from the spot they fair catch a punt, but what was the situation in the St. X game (I can't imagine it is the fair catch deal, seeing as though the field goal was from the 25)? St. X fair caught the ball at the Colerain 25. St. X then had a free kick from the Colerain 25 off of a kicking tee and Colerain players had to stand at their 15 yard line. If it went through the uprights, it would have been worth 3 points.

Yep, saw a kid kick a 67-yarder that way. At altitude here, but still cool.

btango
Seen it before. Head coach was told by assistant to do it and thought he was crazy. Fair catch on the punt. Lined up and kicked it through uprights for three off the kickoff tee.
