so were they close to elite in 2008 when Northside beat them 31-7?

No they lost their entire team and coach. That's like bragging about beating Camden after they went 10-2 and the next year were one of the worst teams in the country.

Booker T was decimated and couldn't sustain the high level the very next year.

FYI, for those who asked about it earlier, FL has postponed the vote on allowing its teams to participate until Nov. 13 due to Irma. It was slated to be voted on Sept. 18, but that board meeting was cancelled. Next board meeting is not until November.

Wow. They can't move it up earlier? The fact that they had a board meeeting scheduled meant there was issues that needed attention. If not why the hell would you schedule a board meeting in the first place?

So to put everything else off that damn long is beyond incompetent

You work for Paragon now to?

Does it require employment with Paragon to know that they put on this event twice, successfully, without either California or Texas?

A non-elite (and even non next tier) Georgia team playing an elite (or close to it) national team.

Think about it. Cartersville was in a death struggle with Bartram Trail at home. Bartram Trail is so far away from elite or even next tier that it's laughable.

BTrail just beat Mainland and is at 11 in FL

However... context IS Important...

Cartersville got up on BTrail 31-3... and 38-10... BTrail scored a TD with 00 secs left on the clock going into halftime to make it 38-17... it was pretty clear Cville could score at will and it appeared the D relaxed. But BTrail got it and scored on a long drive after halftime to make it 38-24. BTrails kicker (apparently can kick well with both feet) hit a pretty good onside kick and BTrail recovered... and BTrail scored again to make it 38-31...

BTrail literally had the ball 4 possessions in a row before Cartersvilles O ever came back out onto the field. Theres really not many teams that can do that to Cvilles D.

Cville had to punt once all night and it was their 1st possession after coming back out onto the field for the 1st time in almost 50 minutes.

They took care of business in the end. The reality is each team will match up different and Cartersville offense will keep them in any game.

Because Mainland last reached a state championship game.....when?

Stop throwing around rankings for teams that you know nothing about. It's really stupid.

Why because they beat ISB?

Heres their 64-38 win over Parkview... it was 57-10 in the late 3rd... Lowndes 2nd-3rd string gave up 4 tds to Parkview in the 4th... 57-10 over Pview in the 3rd is a pretty good deal.

(Skip to 6:30 for actual game highlights)

And heres their 45-0 win over Valdosta...
