Nobody has ever said Gwinnett was weak. Probably the best county for football in the country.

While true that many in South Georgia have other words to describe Gwinnett (many to most of which cannot be repeated in polite company such as that found here), over the years I have heard Gwinnett described as weak by more than one or two south of the gnat line.

Orange County is obviously the best county. They created Mater Dei with kids within their local area’s attendance zone.

Each of these squares are counties. We are going to visit a few of the counties that house Texas powerhouses. If you look towards the top-right of Texas, you will see a purple square 🟪 with the word, “Dallas” in it. That is, “Dallas County”.

The square in the middle is that 🟪 square that houses Dallas Independent School District (ISD), Lancaster ISD, DeSoto ISD, Cedar Hill ISD, Duncanville ISD, Grand Prairie ISD, Irving ISD, Coppell ISD, Highland Park ISD, Garland ISD, Mesquite ISD, Richardson ISD, and Carrollton Farmer-Branch ISD.

Dallas County is 909 square miles. If Mater Dei were in Dallas County, that would be their attendance zone to pull athletes from.

You can see Duncanville, Cedar Hill and DeSoto in the bottom-left corner of Dallas County and their attendance | school boundaries are as follows:

Katy has 10 high schools in its District: Katy, Katy Tompkins, Katy Jordan, Katy Paetow (5A D1 state champion 2021), Katy Taylor, Mayde Creek, Seven Lakes, Cinco Ranch, Morton Ranch.

Cy-Fair has 10: Cy-Fair (2017 6A D2 champion), Cy-Park, Cy-Falls, Cy-Ridge, Cy-Woods, Cy-Springs, Cy-Ranch (2014 6A D1 runner-up to Kyler Murray Allen) , Cy-Creek, Cy-Lake.

Fort Bend, Clear Creek, have multiple high schools.

Houston ISD has 37 high schools located in it.

Dallas ISD has 40 high schools located in it. [Back towards the top]

1. I thought MC should’ve beaten C-M and BG, but they didn’t. Maybe it is because of coaching. They COULD lose two more. At Norland will be tough. Probably have to play them again (or AHP) in the playoffs. Right now, I’m betting on MC’s talent prevailing. 
 

2. I can’t think of 80 teams that could beat STA, therefore I’ll keep them in the top 20 for now. I do like Norland. They’ve been flying up my poll the last couple of weeks.

Norland will be tested by Miami Central and BTW in the next weeks coming. If they can win both then maybe they belong in the top 25. Their best game so far was a win over Lakeland. Lakeland lost to 2 very good teams and won against teams that are struggling, like they should have.

STA had a bad game against Cocoa but both teams are much better than what happened to them last weekend. Maybe they are not as good as they have been in the past years, but I see then going to Tallahassee to play for all the marbles.

Anyway, Good luck this weekend against LG. Should be a good game.
