1992 was better than any of those. The 1992 defense wins vs LSU in 2011.

1979 was even better.

1992 had a lot of rules that favored defense(Give me the 2016 defense over them). 2011 Had to play against offenses that had rules that favored them(Even though they didn't play a good offense that year).

The 1992 play the highest percentage of snaps vs 1st string offenses of any team winning the national title because every game was close.

16 choked when is national title  time.

The 1992 defense destroyed #1 Miami and the Heisman trophy winner.  Held the #1 team without a td.

16 played an elite offense with NFL players all over and got worn out in the 2nd half when your offense couldn't sustain drives.

1992 Miami was an overrated team that won many close games.  Very pedestrian offense.

It also hurt that Saban fired Kiffin right before the title game. Clemson was also called for no penalties on offense and ran a 99 plays.
