Not sure I would use the Perfect Game poll for anything, I believe they still have Farragut at #7 in the nation. The Admirals are good, but not that good. They lost to every ranked team they played. Should be in the #30-40 range in my opinion.

Perfect Game has 32-3 Flower Mound, TX #3 Nationally.......2 of the Flower Mound's losses are to Louisiana teams.

Sulphur, La 11 Flower Mound 1 (run ruled)

Live Oak, La 7 Flower Mound 2

Flower Mound did beat #23 Barbe, La 8-4.

Sulphur and Live Oak both were bounced out of the Louisiana 5A playoffs while Barbe made it to the semi-finals yesterday.

Flower Mound is still going strong in the Texas 6A playoffs with a big two out of three series coming up against Dallas Jesuit.

Perfect Game has always looked at record and talent in their rankings and is very forgiving to stacked rosters. There's no question Flower Mound and Farragut are both stacked.

Corona knocked off MD yesterday in a terrific game 3-1!…. MD had the lead 1-0 in the top of 6 when Anthony Murphy homered to tie it at 1-1….Corona scored 2 more in The top of the 8th and survived MD having 2 runners on in the Bottom of the 8th to win it!….

All 4 top seeds are still alive…. 2 great matchups on Friday with OLU vs La Mirada and Santa Margarita Vs Huntington Beach…. Corona and Harvard Westlake should Cruise into the semis….

Would not be surprised at all to see La Mirada upset OLU, La Mirada has excellent pitching and should be able to keep the game close…..

The 5A D1 Select semi-finals are tomorrow.

Catholic (Baton Rouge) vs Acadiana

John Curtis vs Archbishop Rummel

Catholic can pitch their #3 or #4 guy and beat Acadiana leaving ACE William Schmidt for the state championship game.

The semi-finals and state championship are  just 1 game, not the best 2 out of 3. Kinda tragic, but it is what it is.

West Monroe plays Sam Houston tomorrow on the 5A Public side.....huge game.

William Schmidt is just about unhittable on the high school level.

The MLB  mock drafts have him going anywhere from  #14 to #26 in the 1st round.

He's considered the top right-handed Prospect in high school.

👆

William Schmidt, P, Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.)
Schmidt and the Bears have been in the spotlight all season long as the top player on the No. 1 team in the country. He has climbed into the first round after posting a 7-0 record with 81 strikeouts in 49.1 innings pitched. Could be the first prep pitcher taken as some mock drafts have him as high as Caminiti

Two NOLA teams having to travel 4 hours (215 miles) to Sulphur today = no advantage either way

BUT, someone is going to have a even longer trip back. Hope it's John Curtis!.

Catholic beat Acadiana 10-0 in 5 innings. (run ruled)

Rummel and John Curtis are in extra innings tied at 1.....headed to the 9th.

Rummel/Curtis headed to the 11th inning tied at 1...... both are using their #2 starters.

Catholic (Baton Rouge) is loving this. It's not like they needed any help though.

Man!

At least BRC doesn’t have to play Rummel again. Didn’t Rummel ruin their season last year?

Yes, Rummel knocked Catholic out last year in semi-finals 8-2. We shocked the state then Rummel lost in the State Championship game 1-0 to Jesuit.

Not to be this year

Rummel loses to Curtis on a suicide squeeze bunt walk off. Gutsy call. Executed pretty well.

John Curtis baseball is coached by Jeff Curtis, son of football coach JT Curtis.......when JT retires Jeff will probably take the football keys.

Jeff Curtis has been an assistant football coach at John Curtis forever.

West Monroe flexing some of that #2 National Preseason hype. ..

Clash with Barbe for the 5A Public trophy.

West Monroe's Junior RH pitcher Drew Ferguson (Fergy) is coming into his own throwing a complete game against Sam Houston.  Through the playoffs he's thrown 19.2 innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 23

The game with Barbe tomorrow should be interesting to say the least, definitely some bad blood there especially after last years comeback by the Bucs.  Supposedly Barbe's coach said "F*ck Ya'll" to the WM coach (Simoneaux) and Simoneaux  withdrew his hand and refused the handshake after the game.  Simoneaux also gave them some bulletin board fodder in a radio interview after last night's game saying "he'd almost rather lose with class than win the way they (Barbe) do sometimes"

Gonna be fun

The Souther Section D1 Semis are set!….

#1 Corona Holds off Aquinas 6-4…

#2 Harvard Westlake  Escapes a tight game against San Dimas 5-4….

#3 OLU’s Bats come alive after trailing 2-0 against La Mirada’s great pitching and win 7-4….

And Huntington Beach upsets Santa Margarita 3-2 in a terrific game with a walk off single in the Bottom of the 8th!!….

So it’s Corona vs HB and OLU vs Harvard Westlake….

Pulling for Curtis to pull the upset, I guess. They have the players to do it if the pitching comes through. Going up against the best right hander in the nation and future 1st Rounder will be a tough chore. Maybe Curtis can small ball and bunt their way to a state championship.

Of course on the other hand> I would not mind seeing Catholic win a piece of the Myth National Championship this year.

Catholic has owned Curtis the last 2 years.
