Corona and HBeach are also both playing in the National tournament in Cary, NC next week. So that is not why OLu wasn’t in the Boras classic. Which is weird that they weren’t as most of the top teams from the state participated. Cali has no state tournament so that has been the de facto state tourney.

Having said that, what a great run for the Monarchs this week beating very good teams and topping it off by beating national #1 Corona.

Next is a 3 game series with SM who is Nationally ranked. Trinity league baseball is brutal. The parity is phenomenal as all teams good, but anybody can beat anybody. Unlike football!

I was told by an OLU parent back at the MLK tournament in So Cal that OLU was skipping the Boras this year to go play in The North Carolina Tournament instead….

in the Nor Cal Boras, Neither DLS or Valley Christain played in it either…. DLS just Beat the Nor Cal winner Granite Bay on Saturday 17-1….

The TL is brutal in Baseball, especially with the 3 game series… MD has SM, SJB and OLU left still… That is 9 brutal games…. I think they need to go 5-4 or 6-3 in those games to make the playoffs…. That win over Corona was huge for MD!…. I hope they make it in!…

Well that's new information....

What do they do exactly at the end of the year?

They invite the winner and runner up from the sections into the regional playoffs…. Teams do not have to participate if they don’t want to….

Last year So Cal D1 Champ JSERRA opted out and Santa Margarita won it over La Costa Canyon from San Diego…

in Nor Cal DLS knocked off Sacramento’s top team Franklin and Nor Cal’s overall top ranked team Valley Christian in 2 dramatic games to win it…

DLS currently has a 30 something game postseason winning streak in Baseball going right now which is just crazy… They haven’t lost in the playoffs since 2015….

That's just really a strange setup all the way around.

Totally Agree!…. There is no reason we can’t have a State Playoff is Baseball in Cali… Other then the politics of the Sections and the CIF….

this is Barbe Baseball... insane

Pretty impressive. NO High School baseball program in the nation has that kind of stuff. Not even IMG Academy.

Of course winning 4 National Championships doesn't hurt fundraising. Lots of support there in Lake Charles.

Rummel would have 3 more baseball state championships if not for Barbe.... before the split.

.....2 of those games were some of the most exciting baseball games I've ever seen in my life.

I can't understand why any team would opt out of playing for any type of championship..... that just doesn't make much sense at all

And West Monroe has lost at least that many Championships to Barbe

If you ask JSerre parents it’s because So Cal D1 is the real Prize and the Regional Championship is not as important….

If you ask Santa Margarita parents it’s because JSerra didn’t want to play SM again and several of JSerra’s top players were not going to play in it because of Summer/Travel Ball commitments…..

I am sure the truth lies somewhere in between…. But it’s not a good set up because it extends the season too long and games are actually played after school is out….

The Section playoffs end around May 20th and the Regional drags into June…. The players usually start summer/travel ball before school ends….

Catholic (Baton Rouge) Ace William Schmidt hit 99 MPH last week vs Central (Baton Rouge) in front of 30+ MLB Scouts and huge crowd.

Schmidt is 6-5 197 lbs and he has positioned himself to be a Top 10-15 pick in this year's MLB draft.

He's currently committed to LSU and will have a very tough decision soon enough. He could go to LSU for a year or two and possibly be the #1 pick in a couple of years

Either way the future is very bright for William Schmidt.

Well, will be interesting to see how these California teams do in Cary, NC tomorrow.

Even though Louisiana won't have a team in this tournament I plan on following it pretty closely..

I may do a Top 25 Baseball Poll at the end of the year.

RedZone knows the teams, the players and the schedules. 👍

If he goes to LSU it will be 3 years…. Once you go to College you can’t be drafted again until after your 3rd year….

Since getting clubbed by Sam Houston, La> Trinity Christian, FL has won 16 games in a row (16-1) and has moved up to #4 Nationally. Trinity Christian is in the National Invitational which kicks off today in Cary, NC.

Note: Louisiana has 4 wins vs the Top 7 teams in this poll and have beaten 5 teams in the Top 25.

Corona holding steady at #1 followed by Catholic (Baton Rouge)

Granada CA #6?…. Does whoever makes this poll even watch these teams play?….. Not even sure Granada is the #6 team in CA…. 🤣

Have seen them in person would would say they are #3 or #4 in Nor Cal Behind Valley Christian, DLS and Maybe ST Mary’s…. They beat DLS in a 1 run game but DLS was missing probably their 2 best players….

So it’s obvious that Max Preps does not watch these teams play either…. 🤣

Granda is a tough, scrappy well coached team with 1 elite player, Stanford Commit Parker Warner…. They don’t make mistakes and they don’t beat themselves but they are not on the level of the Top SoCal teams…

Their 16-0 record is against mostly average competition, DLS and Cardinal Newman are the best teams they beat…. To keep that in perspective CN lost to Granite Bay in the Championship of the Boras 23-3…. DLS just beat Granite Bay 17-1….

No team from Nor Cal could take 2-3 from the top So Cal teams other then possibly DLS or Valley Christian because those teams have Elite pitching, Granada pitched their #1 pitcher vs DLS’s #4 pitcher and won by 1 run on a throwing error….

Pitcher from Casteel, AZ just tossed a no-hitter at the National Invitational. Casteel wins wins 10-0...... Russell Mason committed to Arizona.

All the games have been blowouts except the Farragut vs Orange Lutheran game.

Some of these teams had no business in this event
