No it isn't.

It's evidence that you're relatively good at educated guessing.

Omaha Vol admitted that he hasn't watched all of the teams that he ranks.

It's a all a ruse.

What's the difference?

I would have thought that reliably judging whether one team would beat another is itself a form of educated guessing.

Guessing is not the same as knowledge.

No, it's not.

But people who put out polls and who predict the outcomes of football games rarely claim knowledge. Rather, they tend to claim that their polls and their predictions are based on the available evidence, which evidence usually falls short of knowledge.

There is more logical space between guessing and knowing.

Some make better use of the available evidence than others do, which explains why some do better than others at this sort of thing, and why some make a living setting betting lines etc.

That's correct.  IMG looks a little better than the teams they play, but don't always get complete separation via the "eye test".  On the other hand Mater Dei does get that separation

The truth is MD schedule is much weaker than IMG across the board!

When you guys going to learn that IMG players go through the motions most of the time until they are really challenged!  IMG coaches are just coaching - They are not looking for every single coaching X&O's advantage to win games.  For them it is about teaching fundamentals and training players for the next level.  This is entirely different animal you are dealing with here!

Yes, I really did just say it.

Syracuse isn't better than Clemson.

And ISU isn't better than Oklahoma.

I think you take sports cliches too seriously.

Here is the difference - ISU plays in the same league as does Oklahoma - So had ISU won all the other games or enough to finish in first place - we would be saying ISU is better.  So the truth be told Oklahoma and Clemson proved on the field that they was better than those teams as both of them won the conference winning more games.

There was small window of about 3 weeks when everyone starting thinking maybe ISU was the best team after beating both Oklahoma and TCU but they couldn't keep it up in easier games.

The problem on the HS is the lack of common games between the so called better programs.  So the best indication of who is truly better is head to head!

see my opinion after watching SJB again is that offense would struggle all the same against the speed of STA - I believe STA has better defense than MD (more speed)-  Can you imagine how much better that STA defense would look if they had any offense keeping them off the field???

MD is a fine team - but I am not buying that they have played anyone that is truly elite this year.  They beat BG in transition year.  That would likely be much better game today.  SJB seriously has not been elite team this!.  looking back they seemed to have lost much size in the OL from years past to this year.
