There's more to the story than weather.  Weather is the political out.

So if the weather was fine and dandy for the last few days the games still would have been cancelled/moved? Just a different excuse would have been used? Sounds unlikely, but would be interested to hear the rest of the story.

What was the big deal - a little snow.  Not like traffic isn’t normally at a standstill in Atlanta.

Wasn't there significant ice on the roads? Multiple car pileups? Big difference between a little snow, and ice on the highways. Extremely dangerous. It's an unfortunate situation, but keeping people off the roads is more important than football games. Even if the storm has passed, they erred on the side of caution based on the weather the last couple days. Hard decision, but not all bad.

The issue for the late games is getting everyone home in the evening when things start to freeze back up.  I bet the roads are worse tonight from ice than they were from snow yesterday.

So far as the GHSA making more money from a delay, I bet they have to pay for the Benz anyway.
