Not much chatter on MNW and Lowndes ...it's polling as a huge game.

MNW gets rolled. The Miami teams aren’t built for that GA power.

Georgia can hit you in the mouth, and run right past you. South Florida teams rely on being able to out run you with their fastest athletes. Not much finesse and precision to the passing games. Just backyard ball.

Georgia has the speed to match. It’s not a good look. Lowndes wins fairly easy. 42-21.

everyone will be shocked. Except me (and Rufus)

And lowndes ain't built to face that SFL speed

That speed ain't on teams like ISB, Plant and Lincoln

Lowndes gonna learn what happens when they face a FL school who can actually hit back

Lowndes is football. They see speed every week in the Little SEC!!!

Aint no way a team that pays a coach over $100K is gonna lose to a team with volunteers at the helm

No joke a lot of these are pretty bad.   Cardinal Gibbons and University School over Carol City?  😂

I mean I expected Carol City to drop off a bit, but that's just funny.

That’s not the way that I see it. Florida is the only state that has their top 6 teams spread out over five classifications. That shows how much depth FL has.

Statewide Top 25

1. Lakeland (7A), 0-0

2. St. Thomas Aquinas (7A), 0-0

3. Miami Central (6A), 0-0

4. Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) (3A), 0-0

5. Miami Northwestern (5A), 0-0

6. Deerfield Beach (8A), 0-0

At the end of most seasons the final poll is usually mixed with teams from 7A, 6A, 5A and 4A as well.

Look at TX and their polls are usually dominated by the 6A teams with a couple 5A teams. CA and OH are top heavy also with mainly D1 teams at the top and a few D2 teams mixed in.

I would like to see an open division in the Florida playoffs. In the same manner that AZ is going to do this year. The matchups would be great!

I'm not sure an open division would work out since a lot of the best teams are in certain areas.    It would be awesome to have a couple classes merge, but I think we are far away from that happening.

So Lowndes is only built to face north florida speed then? Lol

Lowndes will get a chance to face 2 SFL squads this seasons, so we'll see if they can handle that south florida speed

If Texas had 8 classes you would see pretty much the same thing.

Katy might be 5A and Allen 8A as an example.

Don't forget TX splits it's classes up also.

Don’t take these rankings as gospel.

Josh, who put them out even said it was a crap shoot that is basically useless outside of getting people talking.

None of these rankings reflect anything of fact. It is all opinion. These rankings should not sway anyone’s opinion in any way, shape or form.

And historically Josh has a had a soft spot for 1A and 2A teams. That’s why he threw a couple in at the end. No one who follows FLHSFB would ever dream of a 2A or 1A team being in the top 25

And no Edgewater but 1A and 2A teams is an egregious error.

Not just him, though.

Steve Berrey, clown extraordinaire, who used to run the old Gatorade/Beef 'O Brady's poll did the same thing.

I think for three straight years at one point he had either Madison County or Bolles at #1 going into state championship week.

Wow I can't believe I agree with you on something but I also can't stand Steve Berrey, dude is a complete asshat and thinks he knows so much but don't know crap

That can be said about any preseason polls buddy

Even mine, I already see a few teams who will be misses just from stuff happening behind scenes but it gives us something to talk about

I agree, a open division sounds nice in theory but it wouldn't work very well in practice because the "very good" teams in North Florida are pretty spread out vs South FL where you may have all your elite teams mashed into 3 counties

If it was like that in North Florida than something like that could be possible, i did a experiment and tried to do a open division setup but it was too separated in North and would be a travel nightmare (meaning the teams would never vote for it)

Edgewater will prove to be better than where they are ranked. Oh, wait. They aren't even ranked at all. In reality, I see them as being a top 8-9 team in the state. Definitely some head scratchers here.

Josh has them ranked 5th in 7A, which probably is top 25 in FL in a who knows preseason poll.

USchool to win 4A was a surprise choice... at first glance, I may have put them at 5th to start.   Ice leaving BTW  will hurt them, but they did play well vs Apopka (not sure how good they are).

Without a doubt, 7A is the toughest class this year.   6A dropped.  4A looks solid and 5A and 8A look good.
