Kickoff Friday night takes us into the Bayou State

Kickoff Friday 5pm EST.

1999 West Monroe LA v Evangel Christian Academy LA.   Brock Berlin and his 59 game winning streak on line in the 5A state title game.

Kickoff Friday 9pm EST

2000 Evangel Christian Academy LA v John Curtis LA.  Battle of the AA bullies for a title.

Kickoff Saturday night takes us down south Georgia :)

Kickoff Saturday 5pm EST

1999 Lowndes County Vikings GA v Southwest Dekalb.  One hell of a 4A playoff game.  SWD never completes a pass in this game and it comes down to the wire and a 60 yard field goal attempt.

Kickoff Saturday 9pm EST

1999 Lowndes County Vikings GA v Brunswick GA - state title slug-fest, one tough game!  I couldn't believe the outcome of this one but home field advantage can be a bitch to the visitors.     Brunswick loaded w/ talent ala Rashad Lee and Eddie Palmer as well as one tough defense.  I miss state title games at a home field!  Fuck the Dome!!!

Kickoff Sunday sometime after noon - this is the Biggie!!!!  Probably a top 3 out of all of them.

1999 Georgia v Florida all star game.  This is one of the last high school all star games that the D1 talent took pride in playing.  I know, I know we have the Under Armor and US Army game but           those a lot like the NFL Pro Bowl; very little defense and too much commercial bullshit.  This game had over 20 D1 signees playing in it and talk about chippiness, lol, big time hits on defense.             Florida had the likes of Adrian McPherson, Anquan Boldin, Kevin Beard, Kevin Verpale, and Andre Johhnson while Georgia brought in Marv Harris, Dantonio Burnette, Jason Respert, and Jay Ratliff of our very own Lowndes County Vikings!

Anyone been in any of these, went to them,  the all star game was at the Dome, etc...  This lock down is still making me crazy but once again thank God for high school football!!

Not in 1999. He was a year later.

The 1999 season featured the first summer (2000) Cali-Florida all-star game. I loved the backfield that started that game for Florida. 😁

This Marianna team stunk but it shows what a man-amongst-boys Sean Taylor was. It's still ridiculous that he played at Gulliver.

Marianna was one of the better teams up in the panhandle area of the state back then but I definitely agree that Sean Taylor was at another level, once in a generation type of talent and would have been one of best safeties to ever play if he got a full career

He would have been a stud regardless of what high school he went to though, he didn't need to go to a powerhouse program to prove himself to anyone

My bad my friend!!!  Crazy, I got Adrian McPherson mixed up with Fabian Walker, lol.  Damn!!!  As soon as you said the Fl v Cali game, the memory came back.  My bro was laughing b/c Fabian Walker was one of my favs back in the "GA Days".  tx.

It may be a low point for me to have remembered that. 😂

Florida's two biggest titles games from 1999.

I was a student at UF then, and managed to go to both games. Escambia was like the little engine that could, hanging in the game. I thought Lakeland would lose, having lost their QB the week prior. Super fast front seven on D saved the day. I do think a healthy Lakeland takes STA in 1999.

This STA team very similar to 1998.

2000 is when Parkview started their Legendary Triple title run.

Beating Harrison 19-7 in the 2000 state title game.

They went undefeated but during each of those state title seasons Brookwood took them to the wire. They almost upended Parkview each time they met.

Neither Brookwood or Parkview are as good as they used to be.

Parkview is starting to head back in the right direction though while Brookwood seems to be declining further.

Didn’t Aquinas play Southeast w/ McPherson in the semi’s that year?   Any tape on that game?

Also I think you could argue the 6A game Southridge vs Lincoln as being one of the better matchups that year too.  Shoot Southridge beat Plantation like 49-0 in the playoffs that year.

Yes, played them in both 1999 and 2000.

Only have footage from 2000 right now. It starts at 8:47 of the 2000 highlight tape.

To me he's the best overall athlete I've seen. Freakish ability to change level and direction at full speed then still hit the target dead on.  Yes there have been other similar safeties but not at 215-220.  To think that him and Ed Reed were on the same roster in college is hard to believe - regardless if they didn't start together.   A similar guy was Karlos Williams at FSU before he was switched to TB - this guy was a brutal hitter.  If anyone watched the UA game that year, the announcers were literally saying he's going to hurt someone - was 225-230 running a 4.48.  I think they should have left him a safety at FSU - suppposedly he struggled with defensive schemes.  The guy just gets switched to TB and was the top rookie RB in the NFL through 7 or 8 games with the Bills then I think he got kicked out for weed

I don't guess there's really any need to post the other 4 parts.

It was 49-7 at halftime.

I'm not sure what the most lopsided state championshioship score ever would be in Florida, but if it came up in trivia or something someone listing this game would have to be close 😀

4A State Championship-2000

Salmen 31 John Curtis 29

Great game...Salmen was the real deal back in those days.

What happened with them?  They were always on of the few threats in 4A that could more than hold thier own against JC.

I think the problem was half the time they never met in the playoffs...

Salmen beat Curtis in the 1994 and 2000 Champ games.

The Spartans won State Titles in 1994, 1995 and 2000...

HC Bill Stubbs was a legend and built a powerhouse there.....took a few years, but he built one.

"In 15 seasons as head coach at Salmen from 1987 to 2001, Stubbs directed the St. Tammany Parish school to three Class 4A state championships and a record of 143-40. His teams twice defeated Curtis in the state finals in 1994 and 2000"
