The Latino vote in Florida

2 polls show trouble for Biden.  Miami Herald has Trump leading in the Latino vote in Miami Dade.  Marist has him leading Latino vote statewide by 4 points.  Hillary won the Latino vote by 27 points in Florida.  Florida Latinos always a little more GOP than the rest of the nation, due to Cubans.  But still, these are ugly numbers for Biden in a demographic he must win big.  It has been talked about for a while, now appears real.  Biden has a Latino problem.

Typical of Bormio.

He never links anything and then he draws silly conclusions from his non-linked post.

That same Marist poll has the race tied statewide.

So if Trump is leading among latinos in Dade County but tied statewide then that's bad news for Trump since it means that Biden is winning among retired white people who vote in large numbers.

Either way it's not a good idea, generally, to compare polls to exit polls from election night.

You made that same stupid mistake with the "youth" vote in another thread and embarrassed yourself.

The Cubanos in Miami must look at today's Dam Party and wonder if any of the fucking idiots have ever read a history or economics book.

Young Cubans are more liberal than their parents.

Heck, Cubans in general are liberal except for the Cuba question and their hatred of John Kennedy.

It's illogical but reality nonetheless.

I think Cubans and Latinos in General are turned off about socialism which is just to Communism with an updated name.

They remember the horror of Fidel Castro. They see Venezuela. They are smart enough to know that this wing of the democrat party is in control.

Cubans and South Americans fled this evil and can see it trying to make a come back.

Puerto Rican’s are gonna be harder to convince because they are the only Hispanic country that automatically gets the benefit of America without doing anything. I would love to trade PR for Cuba.

Hispanic vote Latino isn't correct when it refers to those Spanish speaking ethnicities.

Latino refers only to those of latin descent.

It’s all the same. I don’t call you Sudanese or Somali. I just call you black. You can call me white instead of Italian or Irish.

Hispanics, Latinos, Spanish it’s all the same

Biden is struggling to win Miami Latinos, new poll finds. Will it cost him Florida?

...

The poll of 500 likely Miami-Dade voters, released Tuesday, found Trump far behind Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden 38% to 55% in Miami-Dade, where Democrats typically need to run up the score in order to compete in statewide races.

That 17-point deficit is well outside the poll’s 4.4 percentage point margin of error. But Trump doesn’t need to win Miami-Dade. He just needs to do better in the Democratic-leaning county to offset possible losses in other parts of Florida.

In 2016, he lost Miami-Dade to Hillary Clinton by 30 points — about 290,000 votes — but won the state by 1.2% of the total vote.

30 points in 2016 now down to 17 points per this poll.  "Yuge"

But it only matters if it costs him the state.

He's tied in the A+ Marist poll.

If Biden wins the state this is meaningless poll diving.

The last NBC/WSJ/Marist* poll from 2016 ended up picking Hillary.

I'll check but I think she A+ lost, Andy.

Losing minority votes in Miami-Dade in many cases is a straight -1 to Biden and +1 to Trump.  Trump appears to be doing well with Latinos and there are indications, at least nationally, that he'll do better with blacks also. Any way you look at it, Biden's handlers cannotbe happy.

And he's doing better than Hillary did nationally (by a lot) and in most of the battleground states.

Why?

Because Biden is winning more white votes and they are more reliable voters than the minority groups.

Cognitive dissonance is the only explanation for why you'd be giddy over the latino numbers while ignoring the fact that Trump is tied in the Marist poll and behind in most of the other ones.

Try and find anyone who will bet Biden loses the Hispanic vote in Florida but wins the state.

Who gives a flip who would bet?

Biden doing better with white voters and older voters has more evidence than Trump winning latinos in Florida.

If he does that he can definitely win Florida.

Trump was tied in the very poll that you're touting.

You're clueless as usual.

So Marist being A+ might not be the case Florida, Andy.

It's A+ because it's one of the most accurate and least bias polls.

But if you don't like A+ polls that got Florida wrong in 2016, what about a C poll?

Maybe you're a fan of B/C polls? Or C- polls?

I happen to believe that Trump support is undercounted.

Some of it is due to things like CNBC oversampling certain demos (just an example).

Some of it is due to Trump supporters being less likely to be open about their support (Rasmussen came out with data further supporting this).

Quote

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 17% of Likely U.S. Voters who Strongly Approve of the job President Trump is doing say they are less likely to let others know how they intend to vote in the upcoming election.

Agree, disagree... IDGAF, Andy.
