ECHS05
The best team in Hawaii last year, IMO, couldve played with many top mainland teams. They were pretty good.... fringe Top 25 good. A team similar to East UT in terms of quality, but probably better. Tua Tagovailoa had a lot to do with their success.... but he's now at Alabama. Their offense was elite, but bc of that loss... it may take a small step back. Narbonne CA, a 2nd level SoCal team (any team behind the Big 3 is 2nd level), is coming to Honolulu September 22nd... and the Gauchos have been pretty successful themselved the past few years. This is one of the more interesting games of the year to me. Its not Mater Dei vs Bishop Gorman, or St. John Bosco vs St. Thomas Aquinas... or even Grsyson vs John Curtis... but interesting it is. Who do you guys got in this game? I respect Narbonne as a solid team, but give me St. Louis by 3.
Ararar
Narbonne has Rutgers commit Jalen Chatman at QB and USC commit Raymond Scott at LB.Should be a very competitive game although I have no idea what St. Louis has returning
BobbySanchez
Not too interesting imo. Utah and Hawaiian teams generally play "second tier" California teams because Samoans/Polys have big families and it's fun to have a rivalry going on. But unless it's like a Narbonne vs. Grayson or Narbonne vs. St.Joes type game it's not that interesting. You can tell Narbonne is trying their best to get to level of Centennial (that's why they scheduled them for two games) due to similarities of being a public school that relies on funding with limited resources but stray away from Bosco and Mater Dei because they're both rich private schools that recruit heavily. Sammyswordsman
PostSun Jun 25, 2017 8:17 am We will know a lot more about Natbonne's chances after the Battle on the Beach 7on7 The battle at the beach is shaping up to be pretty good. Sophomore QB Bryce Young and the Cathederal Phantoms of LA, just won thier 3rd 7 on 7 tournament at the Bonita air assault this past weekend by beating Upland Scots in the finals. In the other semi final games were , Cathedral beating Paraclete and QB Brevin White, And Upland Beating Valencia of Valencia. Bryce Young has offers from USC and UCLA. Division 2 is also shaping up to be pretty good, Upland dropping from D-1 TO D-2, Tesoro too. Then you have Edison , Los Al, Valencia of Valencia, Hart, La Habra, Cathedral, Charter Oak, La Mirada. Speaking of La Mirada, things have been falling apart over there since Moscetti has gone, and his staff. 50 transfers in 3 years mixed in with some good homegrown talent, has 0 transfers at this time, along with some of the big boys leaving and headed to La Habra. La Habra dual threat QB, Zach Fogel has been offered by Navy and will lead the highlanders at the Edison Tourney. The question for the Highlanders, will they be able to reload after losing most of their Defense and alot on offense. I'm still sticking with the Narbonne vs MD final at the battle at the beach, But Cathedral is making a good case.
BobbySanchez
One more thing about Narbonne, because they're in division 2 they don't see the incentive to have an all out recruiting war in Socal whereas Long Beach Poly is stuck in D-1 playing Bosco and Mater Dei they have no choice but to recruit heavily in order to remain competitive. Texas's best play in their state championships. Florida's best don't even try to make the Hoover 7 on 7(South Florida)

Yes it does, but it doesn't have the top teams from Texas and Florida included. It had one team that finished in the top 10 nationally on the field, and that team barely threw the ball. I mentioned Grayson if you look above. They were the team that finished in the top 10, but didn't throw the ball. They ran the Wing-T. They're not winning any 7 on 7 passing from that formation. If thats your take on Grayson, the only game you watched Grayson play was vs IMG. They didnt throw the ball? They ran a hybrid WingT-Spread formation. Graysons been a spread team the last 3 years. Herron just brought some weird SpreadT formations. Grayson had a 4* QB thats now at Clemson. In Chase Brices senior season, he threw for 33 TDs with only 3 INTs. 173-of-269 for 2,830 yards. They had a 5*, 4*, and 3* WR... with a 4* APB that caught passes also. I wouldnt call Grayson a WingT team at all.

Camden had a similar QB a couple of years ago, doesn't mean they were a passing team Yes, most of those passes come off of the run. Teams selling out and leaving a guy wide open down the field. Element of surprise
