St Aug (NOLA) vs Cardinal Ritter College Prep, (St Louis, MO)

RedZone

Recommended Posts

I don't know much about Cardinal Ritter College Prep.

Evidently they're on a 28-game winning streak and have Won back-to-back State football championships in Missouri.

They signed 13 D1 prospects this last class.

St Aug fired their head coach a few weeks back and hired a pretty good one. He will make a difference.

St Aug has the #1 player in the 2026 class in the nation and a few more studs.

Talent is never their problem.

Cardinal Ritter, MO will be traveling to New Orleans. I got that wrong.

Cardinal Ritter so far has 8 prospects with D1 offers including a 4* RB committed to Arkansas.

I didn't realize those schools had that kind of talent up there.

Anyways.

  • RedZone changed the title to St Aug (NOLA) vs Cardinal Ritter College Prep, (St Louis, MO)

Cardinal Ritter Prep is 6-4 OOS, but the only team that I recognize in the 10 games is Joliet Catholic, Illinois. Home of Rudy!

Joliet Catholic beat Cardinal Ritter, MO 30-20 in 2021.

Joliet Catholic was 14-0 and the #2 team in Illinois if you believe in the computers.

Interesting matchup, I guess. Louisiana doesn't play Missouri that much. Evangel beat Rockhurst back in the day. That's the only match up I can remember.

St Aug hired Robert Valdez who was the offensive line coach at HBCU Grambling State last year.

Valdez won a state championship at St James, La few years back.

He's a no nonsense guy. Will be interesting to see what he can do at St Aug.

Man, it just won't stop raining here. Hard fish in the rain....it's possible, but just not very fun.

Anyways, Cardinal Ritter Prep, MO also has the legit QB amongst their cast of prospects..

He has some pretty nice offers......

This Missouri team might be for real if talent has anything to do with it. They kind of look like Warren Easton on the field to me.

Typical City team...

Small note:

Warren Easton is now in the NOLA Catholic League and will play their first Catholic League schedule this year.

The NOLA Catholic League may not be the best league in the nation, but it will be highly competitive with LOTS of teams.

We may be adding NOLA De La Salle very soon as well.

Cardinal Ritter College Prep is a Historically Black Catholic High School in St Louis.

Of course everyone knows St Aug is an all Black Catholic Boys High School in New Orleans.

I guess I can understand this match up a little bit more now. It actually makes sense.

That's quite a video on the Cardinal Ritter website.

I didn't know this until 15 minutes ago, but Saint Frances Academy (Baltimore) is an all black Catholic High School as well. I guess maybe I should have known that.

Any all Black Catholic High Schools in Miami or California, @Atticus Finch @steeler01??

Meanwhile, QB Carlson Boyd committed to Illinois Saturday.

Carson Boyd commits to Illinois; 2025 QB picks Illini over Texas A&M, Missouri, others

Boyd has helped Cardinal Ritter win two Missouri high school football state championships back-to- back.

Impressive year.

I assume the one loss was earlier in the season?

Did they split w New Iberia?

I certainly remember the Fournette years.
They weren’t lacking in athletes, as I recall back then.

Surprised the Union showing in 1979 was from NY.

Lou Rettino had a powerhouse at Union, NJ in those days.

Rummel upset St Aug in 1979..... not really sure it  was an upset though we were pretty good just very young. We beat St Aug in 1980 also. We won district that year and lost to the eventual state champion John Ehret in OT in the first round at the Superdome in front of 25,000 people. I have the video.

St Aug was ranked back then nationally mostly because of the athletes they had. They were sending 25 to 30 kids every year to colleges. I kid you not.

Anyways, those were the good old days.

Cardinal Ritter was in the news a few years ago when they got busted under their previous coach for using a suspended player under a fake name and diferent number.

Well that's not a very good look.

Makes you wonder about all this talent they've been stocking up recently. They have more of it this year.

Never heard of the school until about 3 days ago.

I always like to learn a little bit. Guess I know a little bit about them now.

Nowadays everybody has athletes and lots of them. That's why ranking teams is just about impossible.

Back in the day Ohio Moeller was pumping out an absurd amount of college players. They had their best run back then as well

Some say they were getting players from Kentucky and etc.

Today, you can have 21 D1 athletes and be ranked #200 in the nation. 😧😆

1981 Rummel beat Calvert Hall, Maryland pretty good. That's your neck of the woods, right?

Calvet Hall's only loss that year and they were Maryland state champions. Know anything about that year? That's going back a few.

Where was mater dei in 1981 when Archbishop Rummel was blasting the Maryland State Champ Calvert Hall 38-19.... Oh yeah, sucking wind at 3-7 and dreaming of better days.

Calvert Hall, MD still plays pretty decent football and has a couple OOS this year..

Like I said...... Louisiana's been playing OOS games forever. I can go back to the 1940s when CE Byrd scheduled a home/home with Louisville Male out of Kentucky. The winningest program in Kentucky.

Anyways, go mater dei!!!

The amount of BS on this forum is ridiculous at times....thanks noonereal for your contributions!!

Feel like a “work” project?  😊

Would be cool to see USA Today or Jamie DeMoney’s site prior to PrepNation from say 1977-1982

@Nolebull813 @Adam Kurkjian @Omaha Vol

‘79 just realized that was the year Union had some ref help in the 2nd half and distanced the game afterwards in a state final.

I was at that game.
Union, NJ has to be ranked during this period, I would think.  Maybe Westfield,NJ in 77-78 period.  Whatever the senior year Butch Woolfolk had, I’m guessing.

Belleville, Summit, maybe?  Cant think of any other public schools with a shot.  @Testadura help 😊

@RedZone

Public schools in NJ kept their kids back then.

1975 Matawan, NJ was #13

I don't guess I've ever heard of them.

St Aug (NOLA) was #10 that year. Probably their best team ever.
