in a double blind test no one would pick colquitt as the best of this group

Man. If we put all of those names onto wooden tiles and placed them into a bag with the same number of blank tiles, everyone except you would reach in and grab the Colquitt tile. maybe on accident or whatever, but, Colquitt is that good.

The only person that wouldn't grab a Colquitt tile would be you. You would probably get one of the blank ones.

Toughest team Colquitt played was #48 and 68.

SPP played # 17. and #57

BC played 43 and 48.

SJP played 43 and 44

So there goes that .

Can you please just admit it, the Northeast is getting shafted in the rankings or Colquitt is over ranked. there is no other interpretation that is reasonable.

All have lost except SJP.

SJP is ranked pretty high in most of the polls.

Colquitt is undefeated in blowout fashion. That is the difference.

If SJP continues winning, they too will move up the ranks.

If SPP had not scheduled two cupcakes ranked outside the Top 1500 and Top 2500 or whatever then they would be getting more love from the algorithms despite the loss to SJP.

It's pretty simple. With such an astute understanding of the unbiased computer algorithms, you should understand.

Finally a valid reply.

Now get out there and sell!

lmao they had to outsource to Missouri because they were afraid 😱 to play a BNU team or even a top 5 FL team ... hahahaha this is great, I never seen a team so good at dodging competition and still finesse their way to national rankings

Probably a year behind with it (or even a year early) but I like this pick.  Young program with a growing population in a school district that includes Centennial and some programs with great histories (five of seven schools in district have title game appearances to their credit, three are multi-time state champions; last year had three schools playing in state semifinals in their respective divisions), and a couple beasts on defense that are headed to Cal.  Currently on a 12-game regular season winning streak and was about 25-yards away from being the probable 5A champion last season (fell to Centennial in a playoff rematch of a game Liberty had won in regular season; point-blank neither team was losing to Notre Dame Prep in the finals).  I do fully expect them to lose to Pinnacle and possibly even Chaparral late in the year, but that's a good out-of-the-box Arizona pick.  Curious how you came upon Liberty since most of the national mindset barely allows for three teams in Arizona to be of national caliber.

They have been steadily moving up my Arizona state rankings.    To do this right (compile a poll) you have to keep an eye on developing teams that spring up each year.    It seems like a Homestead (FL) South Dade or East Jefferson (LA) is out there every year and I try to be the first one to spot them.

Hoss......I'm gonna give it to you straight.  These gurus don't understand mathematics like me and you.  Not a single one of them understand "regression analysis".  I mean......what'cha gonna do?

We understand Regression Analysis in the Tiers.  Case in point SJC.  All the polls missed it.

Another hilarious rankings list. I could do this with a couple dozen or so other teams on your list...but, picking one, Maryville Tennessee with a loss and a three-point win to other teams from Tennessee is in, while Lakeland is not. LMAO.

Lakeland would beat both Alcoa and Maryville, but they certainly wouldn’t “running clock” them. I’d say 10-14 points. Brentwood Academy/Lakeland would be a good game.

The “other” Tennessee team Maryville beat by 3 points is the 4th best team in Tennessee (Oakland). They are not slouches either.

My concern for those Tennessee teams is how they'd fare in the trenches. Lakeland has five guys with Power 5 offers (three 4* and two 3*) across its front lines. As far as I can tell, Maryville and Alcoa have a grand, aggregate total of zero. My sense is Lakeland would be fairly dominant in the trenches. Which is especially problematic because I doubt Maryville or Alcoa have Lakeland beat as far as team speed goes. So, slower teams who are also getting beat in the trenches don't tend to fair well.

My apologies for talking football here. I'm sure someone has some computer numbers they'd rather refer to...

The 2018 team is the most loaded team in school history. Now, it's way too early to say they are the "best" team. They'd need to go 15-0 and beat STA for the 7A title to enter into that discussion. But, it's a more talented and deeper team than any in its history.

But, a Maryville Tennessee team with a loss should be ranked higher. LMAO.

I'll give Whiteshoes credit, though. He seems to know that he can't offer any sort of justification for it. So, he doesn't bother trying. Better than making up some bullsh*t, which some may try to do.

I give him credit doing a poll

cant have all correct

you got his attention 😀

Alcoa usually has good speed. They usually have to rely on that speed since they are a smaller class school. Maryville’s head coach is one of the best of all time in Tennessee.

In reality, though, neither one would beat the Dreadnaughts this year.

I'm all for giving the little guys some recognition. I have nothing against either team (or the couple dozen other teams that are laughably ranked higher). It's just a bit weird to see a rankings list which basically states teams are better and/or more deserving than those they are ranked ahead of...when some of those teams would be BADLY out-manned against some they are ranked over.

Exactly.  Which is why placing teams on their respective Tiers amongst other teams the same caliber, make much more sense.

On a normal Top 100 ranking, the difference between #3 and #4 appears to be the same as between #98 and #99, when in reality their may be a huge talent gap between

#3

Huge grand Canyon talent Gap

#4

and #98 may actually  be not only better than #97, but better than #87 and #77 too because the talent gap is nil.

Sure. In many of these cases, there is no real argument one can make for putting one team ahead of another. For example, there is no credible way I can say Lakeland should be ahead of Columbia. Or vice versa. If you look at recruited talent AND record AND best wins and they're pretty even, it's not really right to rank one over the other. Hence, tiers are great. But, there are plenty of cases where the evidence shows a likely huge difference in team quality. If Team A, compared to Team B, has far fewer major recruits AND has a worse record AND has no wins of national significance, Team A has no business being ahead of Team B.

Bishop Gorman would be another, different kind of example worth discussing. There is no significant difference in recruited talent between BG and Lakeland looking at 2019 and 2020 classes. (Lakeland has four guys rated higher than anyone on BG, but BG has a couple more with stars.) But, BG has three (3) losses, including a home game where they had a running clock put on them. YES, they have played a very strong schedule. But, they've been beaten three times. So, what is the justification for having them ranked ahead? What has occurred in 2018 to justify that? Nothing.

Does anyone know why Rush ProPst is the greatest coach in high school football? It's because, of the top fifteen teams in this poll! Ten are PRIVATE, four are city schools drawing from a population base in the hundreds of thousands, one has an enrollment of 6,000, and then there is the COLQUITT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL PACKERS! Who operate in a very rural county of 46,000! THAT'S WHY!

In the, you cain't always judge a book by it's cover segment! Marietta deserves SOME LUUUUUUUUUUV TOO! After ALL, although they have a less than stellar record, it's who they lost to and how they looked in doing so, that really matters! At this writing, they lost by ten to #19 Rome, by twelve to #91 Good Counsel, by seven to #42 Grayson, and went on the road to D.C. and lost by seven to #4 St. Johns College! No doubt among the TOUGHGEST schedules in the nation!
