We will all know soon over the next several weeks.  Tx HS playoffs.  Both are good and boths district suck.  Would be interesting to see these district a meet in the playoffs.

I favor Allen over Dville.  I don't know how their 42 players are any different when Allen is rolling in new lineman every other snap.  Anyone can lose at anytime.  This Allen team is very good.  The QB has improved from his play last year.  Dville gets to the ball in a hickup. If it comes to bear I will be there.

It could be a good match up if duncanville can get out to an early lead, but first they’ll have to get past SLC and or trinity in region 1 and maybe a haltom team playing out of their mind. Playoffs can’t get here soon enough.  Hoping a lot of these games will be at Jerry’s world.

I'd rather they not be. :)

I only prefer Jerry’s place so I don’t have to deal with the elements.  Why don’t you want them there?

I think it takes away from the experience. I want to be outdoors in the cold weather.  Obnoxious music, parking fees, and outrageous snack prices also make it something I don't care for.

Newton was 8-5 in 2015.

They have lost 3 and 4 games several times in the Maxpreps era playing one of the worst schedules in TX High School football...

http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/newton-eagles-(newton,tx)/football/previous_seasons.htm

Yeah, that was the year Coach Johnston nearly passed away and there was lots of distraction around the team.  These current seniors were freshman and they were extremely young.

Newton is a school with less than 350 kids... they ain’t nationally elite, I recognize that, but they are a great high school football team for a school that size.   I think that’s where people lose perspective.

Watch them in December in the title game and you’ll see what east Texas has known for a long time.

I'm not a Newton hater. I've seen video of them. They are ok, at least this year.

These teams do their best work when they have the studs though.

Name ONE team that Newton has played this year that has half the talent as Newton?

None..  but 3 teams that they beat were supposed to be good, and have flopped.  Gilmer, WOS and Silsbee are all double the size of Newton.  Which makes beating them for a school the size of Newton, pretty good.

298 kids in Newton isn’t the same as 298 kids at John Curtis, Bishop Dunne, or any other private.  I doubt you’ve ever been to Newton, TX, or Newton County, there ain’t much there.  But what is there is part of what makes them what they are.

Logging woods, the oilfield, and farms.  Makes tough ass country boys for sure.  The demographics there don’t hurt either.

One thing I'll say for Silsbee. They have a freshman QB this year that's "supposed" to be something special. That and they're getting some Beaumont United kids to flock over. They could actually be a good team in the near future.

Something is missing in Silsbee.  They have the same type of kids as Jasper, Newton, or WOS, but not the success.

I guess it comes down to coaching, culture, and community expectations.

I wouldn't technically say Gilmer "flopped."

I mean...They lost to 3 defending State Champs.  How many Texas schools can say that?

And who knew Paris undisciplied asses would be as good as they are???  They pushed Argyle to the brink despite 7 turnovers lol.

The Pittsburg loss is alarming though.

I wouldn't want to see them (or WOS) come playoff time...Even though this is a down year for those 2.

Some of it is coaching. When I was in school we had the most boring offense ever. I think we ran three plays on offense, with 90 percent of them being the option play.

Silsbee is also more of a basketball town than those other three schools. More is expected of them in that department. Even the upcoming QB loves him some basketball. Used to have some good wars with P.A. Lincoln back in the day, although they came out on top more often than not.

Calpreps dropped Allen in the rankings this morning bc East lost last night.  (East dropped in their rankings dragging Allen with them.  Unfortunately they were Allen's highest ranked team played)

That only happens because the rankings are bogus.  The truth is Utah East would struggle to be top 4 in Allen’s district.

Who are we kidding? Allen's district freakin' sucks. It hasn't been competitive for years. Literally nearly a decade. I sure hope Prosper can muster a fight tomorrow. Most of the teams in district just fold after a couple of quarters. I give Jesuit props for fighting the entire game. Hope Prosper does the same. This Allen team is bored.

Allen owns the DFW.  They haven’t lost to a dub team in over 6 years.  They need to ramp up their scheduling with quality OOS teams.

Plenty of solid teams in Texas I’d like to see play Allen in an OOD contest before they play some IMG like JUCO school.

I wish we had more home and home games with DFW vs GHA schools.  Or even have Katy vs SLC and Allen vs GPNS at a neutral site.

A mixture of both would be preferable to me.
