i am telling you one damn thing Texas kids can run with those Jam with normal schools.  If we stacked up few schools like some these - the record would be in the USA .

2016 was great example 4 kids simply show up without ever practicing together in New Mexico and run 39.20.  I will assure you if those kids would have ran together all year - they would have ran in the 38 range.

Easy now... we are talking about the United States here.   Noah Lyles broke a HS national record and didn't qualify for the Olympic team (he was real close though as was Michael Norman coming right out of HS to the US Olympic trials).

Boling is soon to be 19 years of age as a senior in HS and will have tremendous talent to race in every event he chooses from the collegiate level and the pros for the trials in June next year.    I like the Decathlon mention.  Can he sling a javelin?  :)    For sure a guy to follow and if he peaks at the right time for the trials, you never know, but it will be very hard to qualify in one event, never mind multiple.

I thought a few years back Tyrese Cooper would be in the 2020 mix, but at this point no chance.   Anthony Schwartz we will see if he can get his 100 lowered to attempt a trials qualification.    Also, Floridian Trayvon Bromell is likely healed and ready to start competing at a high level again.   I don't know if Marvin Bracy is racing or giving pro football still a go.

I like the Decathlon mention ---  He is already really good in 4 of the 10 events.  100m, 400m, Long Jump, and High Jump

He went 6'7" high jump last year.

My bet is he can be pretty good at the 100mH too so that would make 5 events.

He can push himself in the 1500m

The PV will take some training - He has the body for it.

If he can excel in 6 events - this would give him chance be really good in the Decathlon

bottom line I heard talk that this is what he will be doing at Georgia

Thing is I feel like no one cares about the multi events.   I thought the same thing about Grant Holloway doing a decathalon etc, but it's like no one really cares to go for it.  It should be celebrated.   Problem with track and field is a lot of stuff are done on the same day so athletes have to pick and choose.

Boling update -  as I explained earlier do to UiL rules he had to make some choices on what events to enter for District competition which leads to the state championship.  He went with the following

100m

200m

4x100

Long jump

he won District in the 3 individual events and they got 2nd in the 4x100

George Ranch ran 40.9 and beat them

in the 4x400 they ran 3:15 without him - pretty impressive considering he is their best 400m kid

Has anyone ever won 3 golds at state in 3 individual events?

That's a nice core group of events and we don't want the teenager to burn out.

Just a fyi that around the time of the Penn Relays is also the Carifta Games, so we will have plenty of individual and team #'s to review and compare to as far as the HS up to U20 age category is concerned.

District 7-6A  the district that Desoto is in

top 3 teams run sub 41

desoto 40.54

mansfield Summit 40.67

south Grand Prairie 40.98

cedar hill runs 41.8 and finishes 5th and doesn’t advance to area meet

https://www.directathletics.com/results/track/60945_3765151.html

For some perspective

CH runs 41.88 in the district meet and finishes 5th -  that time would be #8 in all of California

it would also be tied for #8 in all of Florida

in Texas it ranks them tied for #53

I spent time in Houston this week.  strake Jesuit is going to pull Boling from 4x100 and move him to the 4x400 - remember he can only participate in 3 running events.

this will make for very interesting last race at the state meet to see if he can lead them to victory over Desoto and others

They ran 3:15 without him at district to advance to the Area meet.

Did little comparison between Jamaica and Texas 2018

compared the Jamaica HS national championship to the 6A state championship 4x100 final for 2018  This is the results of the finals in each track meet

1.  Calabar   39.17

2.  Katy Seven Lakes TX 39.80

3.  Kingston College  39.93

4.  The Woodlands TX 39.98

5.  Jamaica college 40.01

6.  Cedar Hill TX  40.08

7.  Converse Judson TX  40.17
