Ask Farrell: What state produces the best QBs?

There is no major surprise that Florida, California and Texas are the Big Three when it comes to producing NFL players and it’s not a shock that Georgia was easily fourth on the list.

One thing that is slightly surprising, though, is just how impressive the list of quarterbacks have been from the state of Texas - and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

California has always been recognized as the state that produces elite quarterbacks, but one look at the names out of Texas and that narrative could be changing quickly.

Here’s are the NFL QBs from the Lone Star State:

, Robert Griffin III
, Andy Dalton
, Baker Mayfield
, Nick Foles
, Ryan Tannehill
, Patrick Mahomes
, Matthew Stafford
, Drew Brees and
Andrew Luck (Just retired young).
.

That is an impression representation of not only some of the best veterans in the game but also some of the up-and-coming superstars in the NFL. And those are only the big names as many others are in backup roles.

Let’s not forget the next group of players as well as

, Sam Ehlinger
, Shane Buechele
, and some would argue   should be considered among Texas prospects.

In the 2020 class, Texas A&M commit

and Texas pledge   are two of the top-four dual-threat quarterbacks, so there’s a chance they will be elite in the coming years.

FARREL'S TAKE

We ask Rivals National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell whether Texas is now the best state to recruit the quarterback position or if he still thinks it’s California or maybe even Georgia.

“Texas has done a great job of producing quarterbacks when you consider guys like Brees, Mahomes and others having success in the NFL and they’ve replaced California as the place to find quarterbacks recently. Georgia has some amazing talent like

, Justin Fields
and  and California still produces talent at the position but give me Texas by far lately. And the next wave is coming led by Card and others.”

Here’s are the NFL QBs from the Lone Star State:

, Robert Griffin III - No way he is still in the league.
, Andy Dalton - Was never great but was good.
, Baker Mayfield - TBD
, Nick Foles - Very good, but not great.
, Ryan Tannehill - HAHAHAHA
, Patrick Mahomes - Stud
, Matthew Stafford - Borderline stud at his peak
, Drew Brees and
Kyler Murray -TBD
Andrew Luck (Just retired young).
.

Jalen Hurts - Good college qb.  Will not translate to NFL.
, Sam Ehlinger - Good
, Shane Buechele - Seriously, no idea who this is.
, and some would argue
Kellen Mond - Come on.  Really?
should be considered among Texas prospects.

Won't even touch these kats.  Zero clue who they are

Hey... You have to give it to former Southlake Carroll QB (Ryan Agnew) at San Diego St.

He was San Diego St (Offensive Player of the Year 2018) and on pace to the San Diego St (Offensive Player of the year 2019) and has them off to a (5-1) start.

Current California born NFL starting QB’s- Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, Derek Carr, Jared Goff, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen & Josh Allen. 21% of NFL starting quarterbacks, including the 2 best in the league. We won’t get into qb’s from Cali on NFL rosters that don’t start.

Make fun of norcal but they produce some stellar QB's.

2018 NFL MVP---  2nd year QB Mahomes (KC Chiefs)

A lot of Texas backup QB in the NFL too.

Like I said..  QB-Andrew Luck would be in the NFL if he wasn't such a head-case.

Let's also not forget that Oakland Raiders QB (Derek Carr) played all his Junior High (7th and 8th grade) and three years of High School football in Texas (Sugar Land Clements) before transferring out to California for his Senior year of HS.

I saw him QB Sugar Land Clements vs Katy HS and Bo Levi Mitchell (Calgary Stampeders-CFL).

I’m curious to know what your point is.  1. Are you saying that Texas produces better quarterbacks because they’re from Texas?  2. Texas has some good  quarterbacks in the NFL right now? 3. You wanted to post something to start shit like Block does?.
I’ll pick door number 3.

Oh ya.. one of those QB's was gifted a trip to the Super Bowl by an official that had his head about 10 inches apparently up your ass.

Now.. finish off your lollipop.

LOL.. it obvious that the Rivals article about what State produces the best QB' (TEXAS) has your little feelings hurt.

It's ok California..    Being the 2nd or 3rd is ok.

You and your quarterbacks scare us Frog, I guess the Cali quarterbacks and I will have to hide behind our multiple Super Bowl 🏆 for protection.
