In the year 2000 West Monroe beat 2 USA Today Top 25 teams (proof provided if needed), they beat State Runner-up John Curtis and State Runner-up Clarksdale, MS......Clarksdale beat South Panola that year 21-6 and Clarksdale would go on to win state the next year (2001) as did John Curtis.

How that 2000 West Monroe team got the shaft is beyond me....DLS played NO ONE in 2000.......good thing there were a couple more realistic polls around at that time. Wish they were still around.

Clarksdale, MS 2000

Clarksdale sucked.

Why do you keep doing this to yourself?

The chef's kiss of RedZone giving misleading and/or irrelevant information.

South Panola went 7-5. They stunk.

Winning state championships in crappy states is meaningless especially when it happens in a completely different year (2001).

Clarksdale won state in 1997, 1998 and 2001...State Runner-up in 1999 and 2000.

West Monroe scheduled and played Clarksdale in 1999 and 2000.

You don't know very much about it....you are just being a, sammy...lol

It's cool.

The historical significance of DLS's great winning streak should not necessitate any particular three year run being among the "Tier 1" best ever such runs. Don Bosco's nomination is also very much up for debate. Those teams just didn't play very many games. DLS didn't play many good teams, or nearly as many games. DBP, thanks to rematches as well as fewer games, just didn't play very many teams at all. And their schedules were lacking in the area of really fast teams. There were some proud, "name" programs, but they tended to be more along the lines of "physical" and "well-coached" rather than spread, speed-based teams.

STA in 2009 did not make it to the state championship game. They lost in the semis to Manatee. In fairness, the Manatee game was a true road game-several hours on a bus to Manatee's home field, heavy crowd advantage for Manatee etc- which is something that is quite rare in other power states' playoffs. But, that Manatee team lost by two touchdowns to Venice (that Venice team failed to win a playoff game) and lost the next week to Plant. That the 2009 STA team had a record number of NFL players didn't prevent the loss to Manatee. The loss can't be dismissed as irrelevant in this discussion.

None of the three teams above should be "locks" for Tier 1 status, unless Tier 1 is expanded to include more than five programs.

RedZone writing checks that Clarksdale's ass can't cash.

A team that was shutout by McComb.

🤡

McComb was pretty good that year. Damn good actually.

That's alright...Clarksdale is 2nd in Mississippi in producing NFL players. Clarksdale can cash that check.

Sure, pal.

I especially like how they didn't make the playoffs the 3 years before and didn't win another playoff game until 2005.

Oh, and they haven't had a double digit win season since.

In other words a complete fluke.

And 17 players over a 75-year span is not impressive.

RedZone again bragging about irrelevant things.
