The only situation in which you could justify driving through a crowd is if you were being assaulted by members of that crowd.  Being blocked is absolutely no excuse for taking the lives of others or maiming them. If I feel my life is in danger or If I am trying to get a loved on to the hospital and these people are blocking my way. Speed bumps. What gives them more rights then me or my family?

True story.  I was on the city council in Gaffney about 20 years ago.  The KKK applied for a permit to march downtown.  No one on the council wanted to allow it and we looked for a legal way not to.  Our lawyer and the ACLU made it very plain that if we did not allow it, we were going to get sued and lose.  All 7 members of the council (4 white, 3 African-American) voted to grant the permit.  The march went ahead, I heard there were about 15-20 people there.  No violence.  We probably got them more publicity in trying to deny the permit.  Somehow that outcome seems a helluva lot better than what happened this weekend.
