STM was a basketball school for the last few years, but the new coach stepped up the recruiting last year and pulled together a nice squad. They are also playing Hun, three Canadian teams, and three very good NEPSAC Class A teams in Choate (39-game winning streak), Cheshire Academy and Suffield Academy (won the New England 7on7 title). A Basketball stud from Stepinac HS, NY is doing a prep year ar STM before college. They have raided Westchester County, NY for years for basketball talent, grabbing them for a year before going to play D-1. Do they allow for an extra classification year or something? Postgrads and reclassified kids are legal in NEPSAC. The top basketball teams used to be almost entirely postgrad, but at some point the NCAA made it harder to fix your grades after graduating high school, so now there's more of a focus on underclassmen, many of whom repeat a year when transferring in.

eaglesinsider
This is what I've been able to track down for SFA schedule-wise. 10 games, 3 Canadian teams over 13 weeks. Still potentially open 9/14, 9/21 and 10/12. Saint Frances Academy (home games played at Patterson Park): Week 0 (8/24)- Doral Academy (FL) Week 1 (8/31)- Saint Joseph's Prep (PA) Week 2 (9/7)- Christ the King (NY) Week 3- Week 4- Week 5 (9/28)- Life Christian (VA) Week 6 (10/5)- Clarkson Football North (CN) Week 7- Week 8 (10/19)- at Saint Thomas More (CT) Week 9 (10/26)- Saint Joseph's Football North (CN) Week 10 (11/2)- Silver Oak Week 11 (11/9)- COF Academy (OH) Week 12 (11/16)- West Toronto Prep (CN)

Probably lost about a dozen high-profile kids in the last few weeks. Doral wouldn't be able to compete with St. Francis' JV team

Being a true independent, SFA can start and end their season whenever they want to. They scrimmage Good Counsel on 8/17, however, and they probably wouldn't want to cancel that match-up since no one else in either private school league will even play them in 7-on-7.

Eaglesinsider - FWIW just wanted to say thank you for always posting the full MD schedules as they would come out each year on the old Baltimore Sun board (I have some connections to that area and used to read the paper in general). Never posted there, but always followed along. Didn't know you were posting here now. Must have been a lot of work, so thanks!

The MIAA is a solid conference but was never a football hotbed apart from Gilman during the Poggi Years (who I never thought was that good anyway - they had one of the most 1-dimensional offenses I've ever seen and despite the "big names" never seemed to have a breakout player). But even last year Gilman, Mt. St. Joes, Calvert Hall, etc. are miles better than any of the teams on the 2018 schedule.

This school is like the ISB of Ohio I guess? Pretty wild that they come from zero to playing a lot of big dogs overnight almost.

Pretty wild that they come from zero to playing a lot of big dogs overnight almost. Hard to tell how good or bad they will be this year. They're just too secretive. But if they stay competative with some of the teams scheduled, then they may gather steam and start rectruiting the better players around Ohio and some of the surrounding States, which could make them a huge threat in the years ahead. Ohio really doesn't need an IMG in the near and mid future.
