Hurricane Michael

Colquitt County

Recommended Posts

Moved to Panama City from Texas in August 2017...  had to evacuate for Rita in 05, and Ike on 08..

Michael has me just as worried as either of those.  Hard to know what to believe.  The Weather Channel is doom day scenario for ratings.

I did evacuate to Biloxi though.  Stay safe up in Colquitt.

Fairly quiet so far... And I'm still stuck in Tifton...

Just finished packing everything...

Decided not to try to  Outrun it...

But the winds starting to pick up...

Just down the road from you, in Moultrie.

I have a storm shelter my wife had me buy about twenty years ago. It was to give her peace of mind. However tonight it gives me peace of mind.

Going under ground until morning.

I am watching the radar all day (yeah, I am not normal) Tyndall looked to be ground zero and Mexico Beach would have enjoyed the full fury of the eyewall without the break as the eye passed just west. Likely the worse area of all. Hit at 155. My God. I hope all were out .

It’s bad Rufus...  my sales route runs from Tyndall AFB to Apalachicola.

Toucans is gone, Killer Seafood is gone, Gulf Foods is hammered.  Most, if not all, houses are gone or damaged severely.

Port St Joe, and Cape San Blas are as bad.

Never thought it woulda got that bad.  Sad!

Reminds me of what Ike did to Crystal Beach, TX and Galveston.  If not worse.

Damn...a LOT of Colquitt County people have property there.  Or had property there.  My heart goes out to those on the Gulf Coast.

No doubt.  I’ve met a few of them.  Several Bainbridge folks have moved here and own businesses as well.

We won’t know how bad it is until tomorrow I’m afraid.  My family and I got out and came to Biloxi.  Not looking forward to going back and seeing the destruction.

Looking at the news there's quite a few Gas stations Gone with the wind...

Damn man, I hope not, but fully expect it.

I’ve talked to a guy from Bainbridge, that owns a store on Cape San Blas.  He said Mexico Beach from Toucan’s to west side of town, is completely gone.

The El Govorner hotel completely collapsed I was told.  St Joe got bad storm surge, but escaped the 150 mph winds.

Here is a picture from Panama City Beach as Michael made landfall.

Do you have any provenance on this photo?  I swear I've seen that before.  Hello Google Pictures!

EDIT ******************

Found it!  I knew I had seen it before.  It is from June of this year.
