Former Ohio state ballers building new IMG in Ohio

That’s a good thing. Sports academies are not bad as long as they compete against teams with their same philosophy. Teams like IMG, Grayson, SFA, SJC, STA, Mater Dei, SJB etc etc have all committed to being football factories that operate outside the typical high school sports model. They are essentially farm systems for college. Which is no issue at all.  But they shouldn’t be competing against normal high schools for championships. That’s a mockery of the sport. They should be competing with each other exclusively.

Teams like SJC, STA, MD and SJB are far from academies. All of them have rich histories and voluminous alumni bases.

That's exactly what they are saying they are anything else would be a lie especially with Grayson they don't have any true history.

Grayson a rich History that is laughable. They have been a power house for 10 years but only a decade of success does not equal A rich tradition.   So if a kid played on the 2011 state team he would be only 28 now. You need to have great grandparents and grandparents that are alumni before claiming a rich tradition it takes more than 10 years.

Uh, you gentlemen do understand that the current iteration of Grayson only opened in 2000 don't you?  Since we opened we've already been split and a new school created out of predominately our student base.  We lost a third of our student when Archer opened.  I'd say we've done pretty well for that amount of time.  We started making it to the quarter/semi finals in our 8th year and with the exception of one year have been valid since.  It sure seems to chap your rears that we've done well.  Hate it for you.

Grayson needs to be going to state games for 50 years before they are a rich tradition. Plus only 3 in football.

You gotta love guys like 96 that scream about tradition. How is that Lowndes tradition working out for him? When was their last championship? The 16 year old's that were on their last state championship team are 30 now. Does that mean their tradition is dead?

Depends on what you are claiming makes for a rich tradition.  If you include the first Grayson high school, then yes the school has a rich tradition that encompasses much more than just football.  I don't know of anyone from Grayson that is claiming we have a rich tradition in football since this iteration opened.  On the other hand, we have done pretty well for a 21 year old school and there is no denying that.  Football wise, starting from scratch and having 3 championships in the past decade and one of the top records in the state in that time ain't peanuts not matter how much you hate us.  It is easy to have a "rich tradition" when you are in a state with 3-4 good teams each year.  Give us time and we will talk about tradition when we have enough history.  Saying we have to have 50 years when we've only been open 21 seems to be a touch self serving.

Moderator, can you fix the title of this thead please?  It should read "Broke Former Buckeyes Need Money."  Thanks!

If they’ve got enough scratch to lead an investment group in purchasing a former university then they aren’t anywhere close to broke.

Nice try though.

Moderator, can you put severino’s posting privileges on timeout until severino learns how to think things through before typing? 😉
