@HawgGoneIt I actually had to go through Hawkinsville recently for some work related traveling out to Eastman...

I stopped in Hawkinsville and man maybe you can explain something to me.

I saw a shit ton of solar farms and a massive swathe of unused land that has some strip mall signs up and construction on going.

But not only that Tyson and Perdue signs up everywhere there was a nice subdivision of 2 and 3 story homes being built up on the west end and east end past the river with yet again Tyson and Perdue signs.

Are these companies buying out the farms?

1946 Jesuit Blue Jays from NOLA......played 3 OOS football games that year.

Jesuit domiated ALL sports in Louisiana in 1946

Everyone that has been raised in the Jesuit tradition is familiar with the legendary year of 1946.  In that single calendar year, Jesuit captured the Louisiana State championships in Basketball, Track and Field, Baseball and finally Football.  To make it even sweeter, they captured the American Legion State and World Series Titles.  It is thought that perhaps no other major high school in America has ever equaled such a record in interscholastic athletics.  The Jays had a great bunch of athletes and put them to very good use.  Every first year student on Carrollton Avenue has had the experience of wandering down the school’s Hall of Champions and looking in awe at the 1946 photographs and trophies.

1946 Football Season Record:
Jesuit: (Gernon Brown, Coach

Pensacola, FL              24-6
Baton Rouge                  41-14
St. Aloysius                  13-0
Boys High (Atlanta, Ga.) 20-0
St. Stanislaus               31-6
Nicholls                        55-0
Peters                           41-6
Holy Cross                       32-0
Fortier                           20-7
Warren Easton              27-6
Istrouma                     19-6 (So. La. Championship
Jennings                     48-14 (State Championship
Gonzaga (D.C.)          19-0 (CYO Classic)
Season Record:
(13-0-0)

Jesuit last won State in football in 2014 and were nationally ranked that year.

NOLA Jesuit Campus today.

1962 Marana (AZ) Tigers

Gila Bend - 54-0

Benson - 25-7

Thatcher - 51-0

Superior - 52-6

Florence - 28-0

Ray - 14-13

Hayden - 6-6

Gilbert - 34-13

Duncan - 45-6

The first of four undefeated 1960s Marana squads, this squad was led by future Bengals' All-Pro running back Paul Robinson. This was one of the final seasons before Arizona's Class B ranks had a playoff system, thus the Tigers' tie versus Hayden (who would also finish 8-0-1) cost Marana a state title claim.

1950 Concord (MA)

Stoneham 38-13
Needham 38-0
Maynard 49-0
Hudson 32-0
Winthrop 31-0
Woburn 26-0
Punchard 24-6
Framingham 31-0
Lexington 20-0
RJ Reynolds (NC) 13-14 (Piedmont Bowl at Winston-Salem)

Better known for kicking off the Revolutionary War than for football, Concord was only a "Class C" team in Massachusetts, but after a five-year unbeaten streak they snagged a bowl game invite and almost upset their much larger hosts. They made a return trip in 1951 and defeated NC champions New Hanover.

Bainbridge,Cartersville,Dalton ,Thomasville,Valdosta,Marietta,Marist,Benedictine,Savannah HS  and Woodward Academy  are the oldest football playing schools in the state their records are incomplete and being updated daily....

Some of these schools have been playing football since the 1870s-80s...

I think Marist is the oldest one still around from that era...

From the home of Jimmy Carter

Americus HS...

Americus HS is now apart of Americus-Sumter HS after some very unfortunate consolidation...

The area is now suffering from declining youth population and as you can imagine the sports programs have suffered from that too...

But nack in the day the  Americus Panthers used to be one of the proudest programs in the state.

1975 3A Americus (GA) Panthers:

Vs. Swainsboro (GA) W 34-0

@ Harris County (Pine Mountain,GA) (Beautiful place)(I go hiking there twice a month) W 42-0

Vs. Dothan (AL) HS W 14-8

Vs. Cairo (GA) HS W 41-0

Vs. Worth County (Sylvester,GA) W 33-0

@ Dodge HS (Eastman,GA) W 14-0

@ Perry (GA) HS W 41-0

Vs. Jones County (Gray,GA) W 40-0

Vs. Peach County (Fort Valley,GA) W 7-0

Vs. Dodge HS (Region Championship game) W 41-0

Playoffs:

@ Camden (Kingsland,GA) W 19-0 (Now I may have read it wrong but this was a Thursday game... Americus to Kingsland is a 4 hour ride...)

Vs. Lakeshore (College Park,GA) W 14-0 (Defunct)

Title game:

@ Dalton (GA) W 34-0 (Another thursday game.... from the south ga plains to the north GA-TN border... 5 hour ride)

Somehow I have neglected Maine teams until now.

1919 Portland (ME)

Deering 42-0
Phillips Exeter (NH) 6-21
Kents Hill 13-7
Bangor 0-6
Waltham (MA) 13-6
Lewiston 7-0
Bangor 0-0
Manchester (NH) 13-7
Deering 12-0
Harrisburg Tech (PA) 0-56

Harrisburg Tech outscored opponents 701-0 on the season. Portland traveled to play them on short notice after Harrisburg's original opponents from Buffalo canceled. The game was billed as being for the national championship despite Portland's losses. After getting a look at the Harrisburg Tech team, the Portland coach apparently regretted accepting the invitation--years later a Portland player told the local newspaper that the coach's pregame speech was "Every now and then someone makes a mistake. I did. This team could beat many college teams. Just go out there and do your best and hope nobody gets hurt."

YouTube recommended this to me and it's been a treat; this was the premier rivalry game on the westside of Phoenix during this time and games were often moved to Glendale Community College to accommodate crowds in excess of 10K people (the game in the video was no exception).

Despite what the title says all indicators are this was from the 1991 season; Cactus would be a 4A state semifinalist this year while Peoria would make it to the quarterfinals. Both were 10-win teams that finished ahead of eventual state champ Agua Fria in regular season league play.

A couple years after this Peoria had shirts declaring themselves "the Mercedes of West Valley football"; when Cactus' HC got wind of this he had a shirt created that declared they'd rather drive an old Volkswagen than a Mercedes with stolen parts (Peoria was always beset with rumors of impropriety).

Two sweet rides, especially the pickup.

My 82 Camaro Z28 (crossfire injection with the hood flaps) I bought used in 1989 with low mileage, was a money pit just 2 years in.  I sold it to a work colleague.

Flashback memory.  34 years ago today.

Drove 3 friends in that Camaro from northern NJ to Veterans Stadium early am.  Coors party ball in the vehicle.  Scalped 4 tix.

Parked next to some cool Eagles fans and tailgated well.
Giants lost late.
Back to the party ball and somehow I drove us home back to northern NJ.
