ECHS05
1985 Clarke Central Clarke Central, coached by the legendary Billy Henderson, finished 15-0 winning the 4A (Large Class) State Championship and finished #3 in the USAToday 1985 Top 25... #1 in '85 was East St. Louis IL, #2 was Houston Yates TX... def. Columbiafan
This should be interesting 2 teams who won state in GA that year and both ranked top 25 nationally How would you see this game going down ECHS?
ECHS05
I have to take Clarke Central. They had a great program under Billy Henderson. The Championship game was a matchup of 2 undefeated nationally ranked teams, Clarke Central vs. Robert Davis led Warner Robins. While West Rome was good... Clarke Central actually beat some really good teams along the way. Ill take them. I technically wasnt alive when this went down... But I was alive to see some of the very early 1990s Billy Henderson Clarke Central teams and they were good. Clarke Central, Warner Robins, and Valdosta all took turns dominating back then.

And they themselves had 7 shutouts in 12 games, not as many as West Rome but still pretty impressive... Central had only given up 39 points in their 1st 11 games before facing West Rome. West Rome had 2 1st team All-State RBs... And a 3rd HM.
BUFORDGAWOLVES
I'm going with Clarke on this one, didn't realize the strength of schedule and not knowing much about Clarke. West Rome's playoff defense not as good against the better teams faced in playoffs.

I feel that they played more quality teams during their span of dominance. They were one of the more notable programs alongside Valdosta back in the glory days. Both were before my time, but some of the old timers still talk about them till this day.

Omaha Vol
I tend to pick the bigger schools in these matchups. I say depth wins out and Clarke Central wins this one.

ECHS05
Interested to see who you have 1991 National Champion LaGrange up against. That was a nasty team. As was 1992 Valdosta. For that matter, so was 1986 Valdosta who also won a MNC. The real powerhouse is 2002 Parkview. Finished #2 and was absolutely robbed of a MNC by De La Salle simply bc they had "The Streak". Parkview finished with a 45 game winning streak themselves.

Schools opening up around one of the high schools I played for affected them dramatically. Oak Ridge,TN used to be a big school powerhouse (even nationally ranked some years), now they are just another average team in the 2nd biggest class.
