Graduated a lot of talent and some of their top players transferred back to public schools for their senior year. - Gold

Coaching staff IMO is not going to beat anyone with inferior talent. Their schedule is scaled way back this year, with four Canadian teams and two in-state privates remaining. - Gold

Why pay tuition to play against West Toronto Prep and Royal Imperial Collegiate?  - Gold

Their league holding the rest of their athletic program hostage didn't help - Gold

, but ultimately it's really hard to make a fully independent program work. - Gold

Kids want to compete for championships, they want to be named all-conference and all-state, they want to play in front of big crowds and be written about in the newspaper. - Gold

IMG can offer a unique enough experience to attract players (and truly compete for a national championship every year), but how many other schools have the resources? - Gold

Wow.  Excuse thread Gold!.

Nominated for Excuse Threat POY. (post of year)

The Maryland/DC region has rocketed into National prominence over the past couple years with the emergence of private school "Super Teams".  This trend continues in 2018 as the Top Rated SFA begins the year in rarified air at an outrageous 92.7 rating.  The Panther feel they were cheated out of a potential marquee win vs. IMG in 2017 (due to a hurricane cancellation) and are determined to mow down the competition in 2018.  Despite suffering some key off season transfer losses, SFA figures to have enough horses to maintain the top spot in the area.

2017 hard luck team St. John's is coming off a very frustrating season which saw them dominating Calif powers DLS, and SJB, before succumbing late in both games.  Coach figures that lack of offseason conditioning was the cause and has been putting the Cadets through a brutal off season regimen to help survive what could be the toughest schedule in the Country.  A (4) game run which begins Aug. 31 at Hoover Al. and continues the following week with Miami Central (Fl), and ending with consecutive games vs. IMG (FL) and Ga. #1 Marietta.    If the Cadets emerge unscathed, they would lay claim to a national #1 ranking, heading into the second half of the year.

Cal Preps has it at:

St. Francis Academy   92.7

St. John's  87

Dematha 59.4

Goo Council  49.4

Gonzaga  47

SOUNDS good BUT! IMG was CANCELLED, and Marietta ain't even the best team in COBB COUNTY!

SFA 64 Football North-Clarkson 6 (57-0 at halftime)

Archbishop Spalding 43 St. Anthony's NY 42 (Spalding was down 42-21 after three)

Clarkson is by far the best of the Canadian teams so we might see triple digits in some of SFA's remaining games.

Gonzaga/Good Counsel and SJC/McNamara tomorrow.

Maybe...but they did give up 571 yards in a close (30-20) win over the Peddie school. Tonight vs GC will be interesting.

If the ZAGS can stop the run, Good Counsel is TOAST! They only run three or four plays, and one is a play action pass! They can't throw it effectively, when they HAVE TO!
