... by opting out of the program you “rob” resources from the program that benefit other children.  I’m sorry - people that think like this should be nowhere the reins of power in the country.

Why don't you provide a link when you post stuff like this?  It might encourage more conversations.  I'll give you an example.

What do you think of the Trump admin rolling back the healthy lunch programs?  No better way to show that you care about America than to go out of your way to get kids to eat a less healthy diet.  Being a doctor and all I figure you might have an opinion.

1M kids stop school lunch due to Michelle Obama’s food standards

The federal government’s changes to school lunch menus have been disastrous, causing problems for cafeterias trying to comply with the rules and leaving the menu so expensive or unpalatable that more than 1 million students have stopped buying lunch, according to a government audit released Thursday.

First of all, more parents paying for school lunch is not a bad thing.  Some need it, but we are well beyond that point.  Second of all, force feeding “healthy” food to kids is an awful idea - most would not eat it if their mother was sitting there, so I suspect they won’t in school either.  The most important thing for kids to do is eat - their bodies are growing. They are not obese because of what they eat.  They are obese because they sit on their asses all day long and get little physical activity.  I had a lot of lunches consisting of a sandwich, a bag of Fritos, a piece of fruit or carrot sticks and a cookie or 2 and I was thin as could be in high school.

If it’s not affordable for some parents then how is it better?

Remember this gem?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1981/09/26/us-holds-the-ketchup-in-schools/9ffd029a-17f5-4e8c-ab91-1348a44773ee/

Budget Director David A. Stockman (Republican) said yesterday he had ordered the withdrawal of proposed federal rules that would have listed ketchup and pickle relish as vegetables in school lunches.

He said the controversial guidelines, which also would have allowed the substitution of soybean cakes for hamburger and doughnuts for bread, were the result of a "bureaucratic goof."

Stockman's rough-edged remarks were an obvious effort at damage-control.

No I didn't remember that.  That is pretty funny...unless ketchup soup is all there is to eat.  Now Catsup is another thing all together.  Definite vegetable.

Well now fast food chains sell hamburgers made of plants and bread is considered as bad for you as donuts - so Stockman was a visionary.

Very insightful. Schools still have PE, though. But it's clearly not sufficient to keep kids from becoming fat. About 20 percent of kids in the red states are obese, costing the country billions.

So what's the plan?

Well social body shaming from a society that pays the price is out...🙄

But somewhere I got the impression that if you were going to go the government intervention route, that it might just be better to limit substitutions, additives, and the corruption of the actual food supply....than it would be to say... $ tax that soda...🤔

silly, I know....

Bring back shame. It's cheap and effective.

I like the idea of limiting the corruption of the food supply. But I thought @Bormio's point was that kids won't eat "healthy" food. So if we rid schools of soda, the kids would likely die of thirst. That wouldn't be good.

Maybe we should turn school into fat camp. Get them off their asses.

This is a joke right? You see kids posting pictures of their lunches under her program? Dogs wouldn’t eat that shit. Michelle should have to eat that at one of her 9 mansions everyday.

Have you seen pictures of lunches before the healthy choice program?  You do realize that M. Obama didn't cook the meals across the country right?  Hers was an idea to give more nutritional food to kids.  I don't see how that idea is so threatening to some.

I do understand you have hatred for the Obama's though.

That failed miserably.

Hatred is a strong word. I see through their bullshit and I recognize complete frauds. Perhaps you can defend her 9 million dollar wknd trip to Ireland ..... because Alan Greenspan DBP66 had a little trouble crunching the numbers.... he didn’t get passed 3rd grade math apparently.

You think she cooks? Lol.

She’s such royalty someone holds her dick for her when she pees.
