I could see a variety of things happening many of which are not good. These could include the splintering of the USA into two or three separate countries each with their own systems of government, hostile to its neighbors and each with nukes. We need a new, more people centered politics, one that engages citizens in a positive fashion and actually represents the interests of voters and not just large corporations and the billionaire class. The current forces that shape our politics are not only satisfied with the divisions within the country, but the policies they push are complicit in sowing the seeds of discord. I supported the campaign of Senator Sanders not necessarily because I was in agreement with his agenda lock, stock and barrel, but because we need to go in a new direction and I felt at the very least his administration would have represented a timeout. Well, his chances were totally thwarted by the Democratic establishment who has given us Joe Biden, a man who has not only never represented progressive politics, but who, to say the very least, has lost his mental acuity.
