I get that a lot of these football recruits barely qualify academically and aren’t the greatest examples of solid citizens, but do the colleges do some kind of background checks before offering scholarships? I mean you don’t suddenly conspire to kill people; I’m sure this wasn’t his first run-in with the law. And what kind of oversight do the programs exercise over these kids once they’re in campus?
