Again, my life is pretty great whether someone is allowed to use a public toilet or not WITHOUT first patronizing the business. And one small, plain, 4 ounce Starbucks coffee with no cream or sugar for like $3 could have avoided all of this. Its called a courtesy, it really is that simple. However, after listening to the ABC interview with the two individuals who were "escorted out" of the Starbucks and to the local police station, I will say this. If they were telling the truth in the interview they were wronged. Why do I say this? In the interview, they contend that after one asked to use the restroom and was told no, he did not. Further, both contended that even though an employee (store manager?) asked them if they wished to order anything to which they explained they were waiting on a third individual, they were not asked to leave the establishment until the police came. Finally, they both contend that the police got there within 5 minutes of their arrival even though they had not been asked to leave. If they are telling the truth, and I will stress if, for they are two sides to every story, then their treatment was grossly inappropriate. Why do I feel this way? It seems to me that the employee who asked whether they wished to order anything could simply have asked them to leave at the time they said they were waiting on another individual. I see no reason why the police should have been called at this stage unless they were asked to leave and refused.
