Remember when you go to GA you have to be ALOT better or the refs can bite you in the ass. None of these players have traveled 8 hours on a bus for a game and played in a stadium like Marietta’s, and went against a coach making more than a $3K stipend. This will be an uphill battle. They arent given the resources and tools to succeed as compared to other top states. It creates high turnover due to the fact that any coach that rises to the top ends up leaving the state or moving on to something bigger. It’s hard to build a program that way. A few teams in the state have been lucky but most teams have to get a coach that can attract talent so they can field a competent team. It is such a damn shame because the individual talent in Florida is second to none. But I don't think they will embarrass the state of Florida, and they certainly have a chance. Their HBC played at East Ridge in the first decade of this century, so he is young. But he has certainly turned the program around, and has some decent coaches on staff. If Edgewater can minimize penalties and play relatively mistake free ball they may surprise Marietta the same way Wekiva surprised North Gwennett last year. They have major offensive talent in: The Connelly brothers, Tommi Hill and Christian Leary. They beat Jones earlier in the season with superior line play. Their defensive front is nasty and the secondary is adequate. The better Florida coaches have gone on to other states that provide better compensation.
