TheMaximumHornetSting
Sometimes states have different schools that dominate in different sports. For example Wheeler,Tift and Pebblebrook are not powers in Football. But in Basketball it is a VASTLY different story. There are a Few teams that are Great in both Football and Basketball and one of those teams is Grayson... Grayson Basketball has been on the up and up and their Baseball as well. Norcross as well And North Gwinnett With that being said Georgia Basketball playoffs started Monday. @Frosty4024 Wheeler played a mostly 7A schedule despite being dropped to 6A. Where they are 23-3 and will probably win 6A. In 7A: North Gwinnett upset Traditional power Norcross last night after beating Roswell on Tuesday and will play #1 Milton who has been the #1 ranked team in the state all season long. And currently in the national top 5. Tift beat South Gwinnett Monday and Beat North Paulding on Saturday and will Host Berkmar this week. Some teams had a shortened season due to Corona... Collins Hill will play Mceachern in the Sweet 16 Grayson beat Lowndes in Round 1 and lost to Mceachern in OT by 1 point. Grayson the past 4 years hasn't done any worse than elite 8. They should have a state title by now but I believe they lost to Wheeler in a title game a few years ago. So the number of Football powers from Georgia doing well in 7A basketball: 4 Milton NG Collins Hills Mceachern 6A: Lee County- Upset Brunswick plays Chattahoochee-the only 3 seed still playing in 6A Westlake-Plays Kell.... Westlake vs Wheeler is most likely gonna be the 6A title game Wheeler plays Richmond Hills who can block really well but they can't score points.... Wheelers gonna destroy them... 5A: Warner Robins is actually really good in Basketball as well won a few state titles recently like 2/3 in the past 4 years... but they got upset by a school up the highway in Locust Grove. 67-65. Blessed Trinity got eliminated by fellow Private school St.Pius X who has been on a tear all season.... Blessed Trinity took #1 seed in their region in basketball this year. This is St.Pius X year to win it all. 4A: Marist Unfortunately lost early in Round 1 in a low scoring game. Columbus Carver Beat Benedictine in Round 2 in a hard fought game. But then lost to Albany Monroe. Jefferson lost in Round 1 to Mcdoungh HS(Henry County HS) Mcdoungh is still in the playoffs though they play Albany Monroe. 3A: Crisp County lost to Savannah Johnson 77-41 which is expected Savannah Johnson,Jenkins and Savannah Beach are usually really damn good. Peach County lost to Thomson 80-77. Sandy Creek plays Savannah Johnson Friday in what will probably be one of the best low classification games in GA history.... the amount of talent on both these teams is high... and both these teams are really high scoring so this will be good. 2A: Thomasville will make the 5-6 hour trip to The Mountains to play Rabun County who is High Scoring and Thomasville....not so much. TheMaximumHornetSting
Wheeler and Norcross are easily the most recognizable Power teams in Georgia: Wheeler vs Other Powers: Tied vs Norcross all time Tied vs Tift- all the Tift Vs Wheeler games except for 1 have been in state title games tied 3-3 all time

TheMaximumHornetSting
Wheeler aint no joke they have a long history and are one of 2 teams from Georgia with a winning record against Montverde Academy. At 3-1 all time Norcross is 2-1 vs Montverde Academy. (FL) Wheeler is: 2-0 vs Bishop O' Dowd (CA) 1-0 vs Bishop Gorman (NV) 2-0 vs Mater Dei (CA) 1-1 vs Dematha (MD) 1-0 vs SJB (CA) 1-0 vs Curie(IL) and Whitney Young (IL) 1-0 vs I'oni Hawaii 3-2 vs Paul VI (VA) 2-1 vs St.Anthony (NJ) 1-1 vs The Patrick School (NJ) 1-0 vs IMG Academy (FL) 2-2 vs Long Island Lutheran (NY)
TheMaximumHornetSting
UnSurprisingly No southern OOS team has a winning record against Wheeler... They've played more than the teams I listed those are just recent... I do believe Wheeler has played Hoover and Wenonah from Alabama A Handful of times.... I know they beat Wenonah Twice. Not sure how many times they've played Hoover. The boys of Hoover will usually come to the Tournament of Champions in Marietta and the MLK/100 Black Men Tourney
HooverOutlaw
In Basketball Hoover boys got beat in elite 8 Girls 30-1 are in final 4 face Auburn who they beat by 20 plus earlier in the season. Got 1 out starter. Should play Hewitt in finals. Hoover baseball got off to a slow start.

Wheeler has a winning pedigree even before their Legendary coach Doug Lipscomb took over they where really good. He just continued the tradition. The big names in Georgia HSBB are: Norcross Mceachern North Gwinnett Wheeler Westlake Pebblebrook Tift County Milton Newton Lucy Laney Buford-Boys and Girls Miller Grove Tucker Brunswick And the Savannah Schools
TheMaximumHornetSting
All those schools I have listed all have comprised most of the last few state title games. The Savannah schools dominate 3A and lower... so much to the point where there has been final fours comprised of nothing but the Savannah schools even when they where in the larger classes they where a force to be reckoned with Savannah HS and Savannah Johnson used to get in some knock down, drag out games with Westlake and Wheeler in the Early 2000s... before they got dropped to the lower classes Savannah HS beat Westlake one year for the state title... mightve been 06... The city of Savannah is a Major Basketball city everyone loves it... and that love goes down to the rec leagues. They start prepping the kids in the rec years... by the time they get to HS they're more than ready. But overall Norcross,Wheeler and Tift have the best Basketball feeder systems Basketball in Tift County is worshipped... in the community its a popular sport.

Frosty4024
@TheMaximumHornetSting In 5A:- Well in Denton, Ryan actually made the playoffs as they finished 2nd in thier district. Lost in the 2nd round to a Fort Worth School called Wyatt (Who apparently is #5 in 5A). (I mean...Ja'Tavion Sanders and Billy Bowman can't save the world. They were reserves on the basketball team (yes...they actually got playtime). I swear do those 2 ever get tired???) In 6A: Guyer actually missed the playoffs this season. Definitely not used to hearing that...But they are also in a more competitive basketball district now with McKinney, Braswell, Prosper, and Allen so it's understandable. Braswell finished 2nd in the district and beat Lewisville in the 1st round. Then #4 in 6A South Grand Prairie got em 2nd round. Teams to watch this year in 6A: Waxahachie, Duncanville, Richardson, South Grand Prairie, and Westlake (Yes...they can hoop too). Sneak in Acastocita too if ya want. Update:. Scratch SGP...Richardson beat them last round) Will update on Girls 6A later. But outside of Cypress Creek. it seems to be the usual suspects (Duncanville, Desoto, Judson). Wooderson
Of the eight teams that qualified for Arizona's Open football playoff Salpointe and Centennial are the only two currently in Maxpreps' basketball top ten. Salpointe is the defending 4A basketball champ and just had a winning streak that stretched back to last season against Sunnyslope (one of the state's perennial basketball powers). Centennial has historically been mediocre to poor on the court but have made big strides since Randy Lavender (coach who had previously built Avondale Agua Fria into a power) took over. In 2019 they made the 5A semifinals and have been on a tear since losing their third game of the year to defending 5A champ and district rival Ironwood (10 game winning streak with eight wins by 20+, including a 78-49 rematch win against Ironwood). Saguaro got off to a hot start but lost three straight week before last, Hamilton is 9-5 and Chandler is .500.
