I just know that I've never seen a Colquitt kid ask about or tweet or anything about "Where are the hbcu's at?" until this year.

This coming from a kid with offers from everywhere that's anywhere.

The Grambling St 2022 roster has 5 from Georgia, Hawg.

A bunch from Texas, California, Florida and etc....of course it's dominated by Louisiana kids.

Better get some cable TV down there, Hawg........just messing with you. 😀

Do elite players  really wanna play at aa HBCU or is it they just wanna play for prime time Deion sanders, how many people would even know about Jackson state if Prime wasn’t the HC for them?

One of the best RBs in NFL history went to Jackson St......I wouldn't expect you to know that or who it is.

Take a guess. Pretend it's a SAT test. Pick one.

1 Emmitt Smith 18,355
2 Walter Payton 16,726
3 Frank Gore 16,000
4 Barry Sanders 15,269

Frank gore went to Miami so scratch that guy off and I wasn’t born yet when others played so I wouldn’t know emit smith played at a Florida so my guess is either barrry sanders or Walter Payton but I wouldn’t know cause I wasn’t even alive when 3/4 of these guys were in the league

MONEY?

If Texas A&M wants a player in this new era of NIL (the way it currently stands)...there are not many universities that can compete with the Aggies when it comes to Bag Day.

GOSPEL !!!!!!

I like the fact that A&M can become a top school.

No problem. The conditions in many homes of the young athlete are not ideal, with most suffering from societal ill's that many are aware of and some  are not aware of. Living in a situation or place that has little prospects of escaping, allows for the mental development of certain thoughts associated with decision making, no matter the subject.

What has that got to do with...why is Saban pissed?

Because he insinuated that in order for JSU to get a top athlete, they had to pay him. He said the same thing regarding A&M.

Maybe he did not mean for it to come out like it did but it did and thus.........an apology followed.

Oh I know. I remember when FAMU was quite the destination for football players around here too.

However, you rarely see a star kid tweeting an offer from there, or, asking why he doesn't have one from there.

We also have Albany State University near me that picks up mostly marginal talents from the region.

It just does seem like the Deion effect has some legs on it for the time being anyway.

Eddie Robinson also coached 4 NFL Hall of Famers...I knew it was a couple or 3.

All 4 of those guys were great.....

"Four of the players he coached have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame – Buck Buchanan (KC Chiefs), Willie Brown (Oakland Raiders), Charlie Joiner (Houston Oilers), and five-time World Champion, Willie Davis (Green Bay Packers)."Ja

It's pretty common in Louisiana........you have to remember FCS can only really pull 15 or 16 kids per year. I think maybe HBCU's are less than that even though they are really FCS schools. Would have to check. I know FCS schools are allowed 63 total scholarships.

Grambling St  had 15 commits last year which includes 4 transfers....so maybe it's about the same.

Black Colleges cannot make many offers and they tend to go after the 3* and 2* prospects when they do offer.....

Grambling St for example has just one offer in Georgia so far this year and it's to 4* DE AJ Hoffler from Woodward Academy (Atlanta)........I mean Grambling St is NOT going to get AJ Hoffler, but AJ recognized the offer.

Maybe AJ has family in Louisiana or something........lol

Quite often, these programs don't think they have a chance in hell to get the upper echelon players. That is why they never get offered.

And I have seen can't miss kids go to power 5 schools with all the trappings and never achieve that lofty status they seek.

Times are changing and the athlete of today has a myriad of choices with incentives, no matter where they go.

This I do agree with to a point. Yes kids overreach and want to be a P5 guy when really it’s not a good fit for a myriad of reasons, especially where they can’t play at that level. There is nothing wrong with D2, FBS,  NAIA etc. if your good they’ll find you. I just think kids don’t look at it that way and they don’t look at the big picture.

LSU will play the Southern Jaguar this year and the Grambling St. Tiger in 2023...

It will mark the first time LSU has ever played the two Black Colleges in Louisiana.

I don't think anyone really cares. All they are interested in is seeing if Deion Sanders can get another D1 football player and listening to that guy run his mouth.

Some P5 transfers Grambling St picked up in 2022. There's a lot going on in HBCU football that no one even knows about. People know Deion Sanders though. smdh

....3* QB California, 4* RB Texas and 4* DB New Orleans.

https://hbcugameday.com/2022/04/01/grambling-state-spring-game-power-five-transfers-to-watch/

Kijiya Hollowayane, Quarterback

https://247sports.com/Player/Kajiya-Hollawayne-46079812/high-school-229124/

A 6-4, 210-pound dual-threat quarterback from Jacinto (Calif.), Hollawayne was ranked as a three-star prospect by 247 Sports, and rated as the 59th best quarterback in the 2021 class. He had offers from Kansas, Nevada, Indiana, Fresno State and several other FBS programs, but he chose UCLA. He never saw the field there, but should get his chance to show what he can do Saturday. Noah Bodden, GSU’s highly-regarded signee from its 2021 class, is still on the roster as well.

Maurice Washington, Running Back

https://247sports.com/Player/Maurice-Washington-90706/high-school-174235/

Washington played two seasons at Nebraska, where he finished 455 rushing yards and 221 receiving yards, averaged 5.9 yards per carry and scored three rushing touchdowns with a receiving touchdown to boot. Washington played in seven games the following season, rushing for 298 yards with an average of six yards per rush. He caught 12 passes for 162 yards and two scores that year as well. Grambling also brings back last season’s leading rusher in C.J. Russell (429 yards) as well as Keilon Elder.

Devin Bush, Safety

https://247sports.com/Player/Devin-Bush-46038772/high-school-189795/

The New Orleans native has three years of eligibility remaining as he joins Grambling after transferring from Arkansas. Bush played at Edna Karr and was rated as a four-star prospect coming out of high school for the class of 2019. He was rated as the No. 13 overall player in Louisiana according to 247Sports and was rated as the No. 28 overall cornerback. He initially committed to Southern before flipping to Grambling State. Former Cal defensive back Jaylen Martin will be in the defensive backfield as well.

Well, its kind of the same question of Bama.  How many kids are wanting to play for Saban as opposed to the school? (In many cases the HC makes the program)

Prolly a good amount but let’s talk img, they got a new HC every two years why do the top kids go there consistently for last 10-12 years, it’s not the coaches, they go there cause the name of school and how Good of Facility and equipment they got, Bama probably spent more on their locker room then all HBCU schools football budgets combined
