This is the Post I referenced in another thread.  “Bad valves.”  I may have my chest cut open from one side to another and this unfeeling piece of soft shit says “bad valves.”

thc795, I am a human being just like you.  And you sit behind a keyboard and type “bad valves.”

”Bad valves.”

What did I ever do to you?

Nothing. Your bad valves aren't my fucking problem. My father had quadruple bypass surgery. Then suffered with COPD. He smoked three packs of smokes a day. He brought that shit on himself. I wasn't sitting in a corner crying what a horrible life and boo who me when he died. You think I'm losing sleep over someone I don't even know?. I'm not here to make friends man. I'll by a dog for that. I'm here to waste fucking time. Period.

thc6795, I’m truly sorry you feel that way.  Tragically we share this:  my father died when I was three (he was 35) from a heart attack which may have occurred from an overdose.  I don’t remember him and know very little about him.

But, more than likely, my “bad valves” are related to him.  You may, one day, have similar issues to your dad.  Sincerely, especially since we may have a similar history (but different reactions to it) I wish you the absolute best.

For a high school football message board this thread has taken a remarkable turn.  I am probably your dad’s age (and once smoked heavily, too but quit in the ‘80’s).  thc6795, I am sorry.  But I also grew up without a father and have been totally on my own since 18.

But I worked my heart out and kept trying.  And the more that I did the stronger I became.  And, in the end I did it.  Quit smoking too!  And eventually accomplished a lot.

But it could have been a helluva lot easier...

Someone's bad valves, while a sad situation, do not logically lead to heaping blame for a pandemic on a single man and giving a pass to China, the WHO and state and local government which are - in our system - supposed to be the first line of defense.

Lockdowns Haven’t Proved They’re Worth the Havoc

Joe Nocera
,
BloombergMay 21, 2020

...All of which raises a question that has so far been relegated to a small handful of coronavirus contrarians: with all the businesses that are going to fail, and the tens of millions of people who will be unemployed — and the other negative consequences that come with forcing people to stay at home — will the lockdown have been worth it? Or would we have been better off doing something closer to what the country did in 1968 — yes, taking precautions like wearing masks, washing hands and protecting the elderly, but allowing businesses and schools to stay open while people went about their lives?

...

Soon afterward, a paper was published calling for a national policy of sheltering-in-place. It swayed Bush. But four scientists who were infectious disease specialists also wrote a paper about the idea — a devastating critique. There was no science to support the notion that a national quarantine would halt the spread of infection, they wrote.  It could increase the risk of infection for people living in close quarters. Closing theaters, malls, restaurants, stores and bars — not to mention church services and athletic events — would have “serious disruptive consequences.” Closing schools was not only impractical “but carries the possibility of a seriously adverse outcome.” And so on.

The scientists concluded:

Experience has shown that communities faced with epidemics or other adverse events respond best and with the least anxiety when the normal social functioning of the community is least disrupted. Strong political and public health leadership to provide reassurance and to ensure that needed medical care services are provided are critical elements. If either is seen to be less than optimal, a manageable epidemic could move toward catastrophe.

The second issue is that there is surprisingly little evidence that lockdowns work. Last week, a statistician named William M. Briggs, who is solidly in the anti-lockdown camp, wrote a blog post comparing countries that locked down with countries that didn’t. As of May 12, the U.S. had 237 deaths per million people. Taiwan, a no-lockdown country, had 0.3 deaths per million. (The country has had a total of seven deaths.)

No-lockdown Sweden has had 347 deaths per million; lockdown Belgium, with a similar population, has had 763 deaths per million. Ethiopia, with a population of 109 million, had no lockdown — and a death rate of 0.04 per million.

“Death rates were more than highly variable; they were all over the place,” Briggs wrote of the data he had collected. “If lockdowns worked as advertised, we would not see such enormous variability in the death rates.”

“What should we conclude?” he added. “Strike that. What can we conclude? Only one thing: We cannot conclude that lockdowns worked.”

No bullshit a teen here in Euless committed suicide two months ago. Her parents received her death certificate today. It had covid19 as the cause of death. They called and asked why. The Dr told them she committed suicide because she was depressed being locked up in her home not being able to graduate with her friends. He said the reason she was locked up was because of covid19. No fucking bullshit.

turns out this is not true

suicides across the country are way down since the stay at home order

Notice how Blueliner never links anything that he cites.

He's like a true Trump voter: he thinks if he just puts it in bold print that it'll make it true.

https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/health-coronavirus-usa-cost/

In Europe and the United States, suicide rates rise about 1% for every one percentage point increase in unemployment, according to research published by lead author Aaron Reeves from Oxford University. During the last recession, when the unemployment in the United States peaked at 10%, the suicide rate jumped, resulting in 4,750 more deaths. If the unemployment rate increases to 20%, the toll could well rise.

Economic depressions, unfortunately, lead to higher suicide rates. Has very little to do with the lockdown itself. Yes, mental health risks are heightened due to isolation but this is mostly tied to unemployment. And the numbers are still many times lower than the death toll from COVID-19.

So we could see up to 10,000 more suicides than normal. Bad but not persuasive as an argument that the lockdown shouldn't have happened.

Ahhh...the left’s favorite go-to move of just calling something “debunked” if they don’t like it. You are a liar, unethical, and gullible as fuck. They are up 60% in my county alone. Cardiac arrests are up 220%. I’ve personally seen the data FROM the source. ODs and violence are more than doubled....yet 911 EMS responses have decreased by 50%. Hospitals wards and ICUs are empty. 🤔What could be the cause of that, Einstein? Fucking hating, gullible ass people are going to be the death of me/us.

I didn’t just fall off of the fucking turnip truck. I’ve seen and been involved with more betterment of humanity experiences then you’ll ever see or experience in your pathetic fucking life (yep..there’s my resume again).  I know what I know...and reflecting upon my experience and education ...it’s a lot. Stop being a pussy. Please!
